I am a lively, 55 year "young" disabled lady. I need some help from a lovely HelpX-er to build some raised beds and plant some vegetables so I can start to grow my own food. I also need help put up a recycled shed / studio with a wood burning stove.

If you are free in AUGUST - message me now!

I have a degenerative muscle condition that makes it hard for me to do the DIY jobs that I used to enjoy. But I offer a great hosting experience to anyone who is able to come and help me! I live in the most vibrant and talked about part of London - the fabulous Brixton, with its famous market village, a food mecca and host to a million cultures.

My city flat is moments from a stunning city park (Brockwell Park - one of Brixton`s best kept secrets) I'm a short walk from London`s famous tube (underground or metro system). You can hop on a bus or tube and be in Central London in 20 minutes, to enjoy the sights or just soak up the cool London vibe. There's lots of lovely green space too.

If you have are a couple or single traveller with gardening or building skills, I can offer you a great HelpX experience in exchange for 4-5 hours work a day. You will be well fed and also get plenty of time to see this wonderful city. I offer language help and even guided tours if you'd like them.

As a HelpX host for many years, I've formed some fabulous friendships. (And had some super reviews!!!).
At least 4 HelpXers have come back a 2nd time - and even a 3rd visit! One Help-Xer never went home and has been my medical carer for 3 years! Another has moved to England to work for me too - so two of my care team were former HelpX-ers! (Be warned, it's so good here, you might never want to go home!!!) We've also made many friends who have just been passing through and have stayed in touch. We love our HelpX community!

My Brixton home is small but comfortable beds / sofas / sofa beds (we work out who gets what depending on whether you are a couple or single). There is plentiful free good wifi. And lots of good food too - all from our local markets which are world renowned. I provide all food at home, so you only have to pay for food or drinks that you need when you are out. I can provide vegetarian food if that suits you better. (BUT PLEASE let me know when you apply if you have other dietary needs, as I have quite a few of my own so it gets complicated catering for everyone)

I find most HelpX-ers want to get up early and crack on with their work, then freshen up and get out to enjoy the city for the rest of the day. But I am happy to be flexible. We always work as a team, and make a good plan and have a productive and happy time all round.

You`ll be a capable DIY person, perfectly comfortable with a hammer and nails. You might also good at planting and know what grows well where. You won't be working alone - I have a fabulous team here, so there is always someone on hand to help a bit and make tea (an essential English custom!) It`s also important you like animals as you`ll be sharing the house with a cat and at least one dog.

Even if you don`t smoke in front of me and think you'll be OK having a quick cigarette away from the house ... my very sensitive lungs will know, and I risk ending up in hospital. Sorry.

So ... if you are good at DIY, building and / or gardening, come and join this happy household and enjoy all the city of London has to offer! All you need is pocket money for travel fares, food and drinks when you`re out, and a bit of cash for entrance to paid attractions. But remember, most London museums offer free entry ... and all our lovely parks and wild areas too you can really enjoy this city on a shoestring!

If you are free in early August drop me a line NOW!!!
