Our Eco Hotel is more or less a 3 star property located on a mostly undeveloped large Pacific island about 5 minutes by boat from the mainland town of Boca Chica. We have 15 rooms ranging from economic rooms to Standard rooms to Deluxe rooms and more. We have restaurant on the property that is open all day 7 days a week and since there is pretty much nothing else on the island, the guests generally rely on us for their breakfast, lunch and dinner.

We have a very chill atmosphere and are mostly considered off the beaten path but not by much, and we are very accessible to the adventure traveler. The majority of guests are European but we get a fair amount of South Americans handful of Canadiens and a few US clients thrown in for good measure. We are also popular with Panamanians and other Central Americans as are prices are very reasonable.

Our high season starts about a day before Christmas and runs until Easter. During this time we look for room cleaners/maids, restaurant & bar, and kitchen help, but also have room for a general laborer as well. Some volunteers also rotate as tour guides on our island and snorkeling trips.

Our everyday routine consists of guest check-in/out, cleaning rooms, answering questions about activities and tours as well as helping guests with transportation needs for their departure and continued travel and of course making and serving food and drinks.

To be a volunteer here you MUST speak SPANISH and ENGLISH and be willing to commit to helping out for at least one month. Since our staff is all Panamanian and none of them speak English it is most important that you are able to speak Spanish in order to communicate with them while working together. Other languages that are helpful to communicate with our clients is French, Dutch, German, Italian and English.

Do not write to us for a volunteer position unless you speak Spanish and can stay for at least one month.

Also we generally do not accept couples.

A good fun attitude, flexibility, honesty and good work ethic is a must. This is a unique and very special place in an amazingly beautiful area. You won't be disappointed unless you need t.v. and Starbucks.

We do have Wifi on the property but it is more like 23/6 instead of 24/7.

We offer room and board in exchange for 4 to 5 hours of work daily six days a week. Sometimes it will be 4 to 5 hours straight and other times it is split shift of 2/3 hours in the morning and 2/3 hours in the afternoon or evening. Sometimes volunteers work alone on smaller individual type work or projects and other times we work in a team of two or more.

We look forward to hearing from you.
