Our farm is located one mile outside of beautiful downtown Lambertville, New Jersey. The farm borders the Delaware River in a picturesque country setting where New Jersey really does earn its moniker as "The Garden State."

The farm was named in the 1980's when it was an ostrich farm. Today we raise vegetables, herbs, flowers, mushrooms, and chickens.

We are very passionate about farming, food, nature, and sustainability, and these passions transcend into our preferred growing methods. We are a small farm, but we grow intensively and produce a lot of food per acre. We use permanent beds, and reduced tillage methods to take care of our land. We also have interns that work for us a few days a week that you will be spending time with as well. We would love to house passionate individuals who are interested in sharing skills, learning, and working hard. Volunteers can expect to learn about organic vegetable production, greenhouse management, hydroponic growing, tractor safety, composting, harvesting, weeding, transplanting, direct seeding, basic animal chores, mushroom cultivation, and more. There is always more to learn. We are constantly learning new lessons every day.

We expect our volunteers to work about 6 hours per day, for 5 days a week. We prefer volunteers stay for at least 2 weeks so that both of us can mutually benefit from one another. We would love to share our skills, but we'd also love to learn from you! Of course, volunteers are welcome to work more if they would like (Stephanie and John will be working pretty much all day, every day). Our house is located on the farm and there is a spare bedroom for you to use. We will share a bathroom. Our house is small, but comfortably cozy. Backpackers with tents are more than welcome to camp near the pond or stream as well. Meals provided daily. Volunteers are required to help out with basic chores and we encourage volunteers to help out with cooking every so often. Wed love to share recipes!

Our farm is located about 30 minutes from Philadelphia, and about 1 hour from NYC. There is a bus that runs to both cities from town, which makes for a good weekend get-away. New Hope is also right across the river in Pennsylvania which has a unique eccentric flair of its own (great for people watching, eating, and enjoying a day off in the summer time).

There are also two artists that live on the farm and have their art studios here, beekeepers that come to take care of their bees and a woodworker with his wood shop here, so we have a thriving community that we cherish. There are also several dogs and a cat running around whom offer love to everyone.

We've had great experiences with Helpx as "helpers" and now we are fortunate enough to give back and host. We would love to ignite a passion for farming and sustainable agriculture in all of our volunteers no matter where they are from.
