Minimum 14 day Farm home stay available through September 2018 until Oct 20th 2018 for either a solo female, a solo male or a mixed gender couple. A reasonable ability to converse in English is required. The Helpxer will help both host and hostess around main house, grounds and gardens of a large multi purpose farm. Previous experience is not necessary - but willingness and a strong desire to learn new skills is. All food and accommodation supplied in exchange for 20 hours of help a week. We do not cater for gluten free, vegetarian or vegan based diets - but do offer well balanced, nutritious and tasty meals.

Main house, grounds and garden include small orchard of many different kinds of fruit trees, large flower and vegetable gardens, full International sized petanque piste, heavy duty free weights gymnasium, seven bay shed, concept 2 indoor rower, outdoor chess and other games and entertainments. Helpers have full free time use of all such facilities with (if desired) free instruction and training from Host - a former three sport National Champion. Helpers live in with host family. In addition to meals and accommodation: TV, DVD`s, library, washing machine, drier, free wifi and internet are provided.

A minimum stay of two weeks at the property is required, although many helpers stay longer. The 20 hours a week can be made up any way that is mutually beneficial and agreeable - i.e. four hours five days a week or two eight hour days and a four hour day or whatever works for all of us and can be changed to suit as often as required. The key is flexibility so that helpers can explore the North, see the sights and get out and about a bit if they wish to do so. Tasks are varied and interesting, including amongst other things, gardening, path construction, landscaping, fencing, building, brick and paver laying, lawn mowing, tree pruning, some meal preparation and minor household chores.

The property is close to many of the Far North`s east coast beaches, kauri forests, ninety mile beach on the Northland West Coast and less than a day`s return visit to Cape Reinga, forty minutes drive from Paihia or Manganui, and fifteen minutes from Kerikeri. Tour buses to ninety mile beach, West coast sand hills, Cape Reinga and the Kauri Kingdom can be boarded from both Paihia and Waipapa (we can drive you to the Waipapa bus stop). Paid work outside the twenty hours is often available in Kerikeri and surrounding districts for those who want it - although a car or other transport would be necessary to get to or from such work. Looking forward to meeting you soon. Best regards, - Bob and Colleen.
