We are sheep and beef, hill country farming 25 minutes east of Masterton in the Gladstone area in the Wairarapa. We farm 646 hectares and run 3900 sheep and up to 300 cattle. We have 3 children, Bella, 9, Sam, 7 and Sophia, 4. Richard is full-time working on the farm, whilst Becks is a mum firstly, but also works 2-3 days from home running her graphic design business. We are looking for people to help us around the house both inside and out as well as some light on farm work. Richard will try and explain what we`re doing on the farm at the time of year, give you a tour around the farm and where able involve you in some of the jobs when handling the animals. As mentioned we are 25 mins east of Masterton and only an hour and a half from Wellington. Accommodation is in with us, with a double bed (plus another mattress which can go on the floor). We'd prefer to host meat eaters as it can make meal times a bit easier for us, however its good to have a mixed diet nowadays!. We feel we`re in a really attractive area of NZ, with some great views of the country side. This year we won the Greater Wellington Farm Environment awards and are proud of this achievement, so will be happy to explain what we've been doing towards trying to farm in a more sustainable way.
