Cwrt y Cylchau is a stone farm house and outbuildings situated with five acres of sheltered and peaceful land in a valley in the hills. Surrounded by mature trees and bordering a mountain stream, we have a forest garden, vegetable beds, polytunnel, ponds, coppices, meadows and woodland. Sheep graze part of the land whilst some meadow is left to encourage wildflowers. Wildlife is a priority and permaculture informs the management of land and lifestyle here. Currently there are three residents. Some residents have jobs away from home. The owner is home-based and usually available to work alongside volunteers.
Guests and volunteers are accommodated in the farmhouse or may camp in summer months. People sometimes come here for retreat, enjoy the tranquility, breathe exceptionally clear air and find silence interrupted only by birdsong and the sounds of wind and river.
Volunteers are asked to help with the daily and seasonal activities. These might be gardening jobs connected with growing and harvesting fruit and vegetables, cooking, housework, help with building maintenance and the production and storing of fire wood.Arrangements for volunteering can be flexible depending on your needs and length of stay.A maximum of 30hours work a week for house accommodation and meals with washing machine access and unlimited wifi. A minimum of 10hours a week for people who cook and provide their own food.Mobile phone reception can be intermittent but internet access is usually good.

The nearest village shop is just over a mile away and seven miles from the small market and university town of Lampeter. I do not run a car so volunteers need to be prepared to walk. The nearest bus is a 30 minute walk. Lampeter is a ‘transition’ town, concerned with sustainable living in the face of climate change and peak oil, and particularly attracts people who are interested in ecological and environmental issues and local community based projects.
There is a thriving permaculture group based around the Lampeter area and members meet up at least once a month to help each other on their plots and arrange public events.

Sorry no pets and no smoking.
