We are looking for short & long term help, either with farm or building work or a mix depending on your preference & experience.

We are a 20 acre family croft in a quiet location where we like help with a wide range of jobs including all aspects of growing vegetables for a box delivery round, lambing (April), firewood, tree planting, fencing, building, animal care (sheep, bees, cattle, hens). A good work ethic is more important than previous experience & we love to learn from our volunteers too!

Projects include building a load bearing straw bale house with traditional post & beam verandas, any trades / prior experience is very welcome! (Summer 2018 onwards).

If you are looking for a long term placement then we can teach you how to grow veg & run a veg box scheme.

Bus stop 1 mile away, 3 miles to village with shops, sandy beaches, dolphin watching, mountain biking (Learnie Red Rock trails). 12 miles to Inverness. You can borrow bikes to get around.

We live in a very small cabin with an outdoor composting toilet. Guest accommodation is in a large static caravan with wood burning stove, sometimes shared with other volunteers. There are self catering facilities & all food basics are provided - mainly vegetarian & organic & lots of home produce.

Some work clothes can be provided - there's spare gloves, wellies, jackets etc but please check before coming. Most of our spare time is spent looking after our young children so it helps if volunteers can be fairly self sufficient, though we'll look after you too! Work days are usually Mon-Fri, 5 days for 6hrs per day, outwith these times it's all yours to explore or relax.
