We are an international, spiritual (Hare Krishna), rural living community called Goloka Dhama in the forest of western germany in the Saar Hunsruck Natur park. There are on average 15-25 international people of various ages living here.

We have some gardens (mostly flowers until now) and look for some people who are interested to help enlarging with more vegetables and herbs. Also some general garden and land maintenance.

In some of our buildings we have some renovation work, re-building walls, painting, some brick laying, etc. and would be happy for helping hands!

If you like cooking you are also welcome in our kitchen! And there are also many different kinds of activities relating to our vedic style temple activities for those who are interested.

We have various accommodation possibilities according to your needs, and cook the most amazing lacto-vegetarian food. Our milk comes from a nearby local farmer. Some dishes are also vegan.

We do request that anyone staying with us not bring any meat, fish, eggs, alcohol, smokes, or other intoxications onto the property.

Working day here starts about 10AM, lunch at 1:30 and work day finishes about 5PM. 4-5 hours daily.

We are something of a monastery. Friendly and open people, but also busy in our monastic way of life. What this means that we might not be able to take a lot of time with you due to our busy schedule. There are times or course when we might eat together and work together, and other times when you might be given tasks to do alone. We have many various temple programs in the morning and evening with singing kirtan, meditation, and philosophical lectures ,and you are of course welcome to join whenever you want.

We like to have a maximum of about 2-3 helpers at a time, so there is a chance that you have association of the other helpers.

We are quite secluded and isolated in the forest. The nearest town with shops is a 15 minute drive away (Birkenfeld), and the nearest (tiny) village is a 5 minute drive, or 40 minute walk down a beautiful river. If you like a quiet retreat from busy life then this is a good place for you. If you like a lot of action and want visit cities and sites then you might not be so satisfied here.

What you can do in your free time here is basically exploring the surrounding forest. If you want to go to town for shopping we could drive you from time to time. (We can also pick things up for you if you give us a list!)
If you want to see some of the cities around you can either come with us when we go to events in the city (about once a week we go for a few hours to sing to Trier or Saarbrücken), or you can take the train (15 minute drive to the train station).

English is the primary language used here. For those wanting to learn german, I would say it is possible, but you should be eager as we will not force you. About half of the 15-20 residents speak German.

We are a Vedic "Hare Krishna" temple community and practice spiritual life, meditation, singing together to worship Krishna, and follow the “4 regulative principles” (no eating meat, fish, or eggs, no intoxications, no illicit sex, and no gambling. We also ask that our helpers follow these regulations while here).

Please note that because we are a meditational community, with celebrate nuns and monks living here, we have a simple
dress code that we request all to honour. Best would be full length skirts for the girls, but if that is not possible then the minimum requirement is shorts / skirts with a length past the knee. (No mini-skirts)
No ‘tank-tops’ or low cut shirts; t-shirts are required at a minimum, also for the guys.
Incase you are not able to bring such clothes with you we have a collection of extra clothes for everyone to take, which can also be used for an extra set of work clothes while you are here.

We look forward to welcoming you here, regardless of your age or background.
