My partner and I live on a beautiful 40 hectare property between Greymouth and Hokitika (most of which is native forest). It needs maintenance including clearing tracks.
We also have 20 sheep, and occasionally need help with them. Lambing will take place soon....
Our preference is someone who has been raised in the countryside, is strong, and capable with a chainsaw. An international drivers licence would be a bonus. We like people who work hard, and are capable of doing so without supervision. At the moment we are cutting up wind-fallen trees beside a road through our forest, for firewood

We only need help with housework from time to time. Also our children are grown up, and not living at home

In return for 4 hours work for every night you stay, we look after you well. Our food is good wholesome farm cooking. (Unfortunately we do not cater for vegetarian/vegan diets)

Please note we do not offer a single overnight stay. We want a person(s) who will stay for a minimum of 4 days

Because our climate here on the west coast can be wet, be prepared to work in the rain sometimes, although we try to find indoor work for you. At present we are fencing and splitting wood and stacking them for firewood. There are also tracks that need a little maintenance and garden beds that need to be prepared and planted for spring
There is always some choice of work, and you can vary your hours to suit yourself for example do a full days work then take the next day off.... At the moment the short term forecast is often for wet weather, but at the moment it is good and approaching spring weather!
Our property has wonderful views overlooking the Taramakau River, and is secluded (although the property is close to the main highway). It offers great panoramic views of the river valley and great walking access via tracks to both the river and through our native bush. There is excellent fishing in the river
here throughout the year. It is directly below our farmhouse. There are wild deer on our river close by, but you have to be up very early to see them. They are very shy and if they see you they disappear into the bush quickly!

Most of the helpxers we have had have been people in their mid 20s. Many have stayed here longer than a week because they enjoyed our surroundings...
We provide good home prepared food and also we like to have a good time. We have accommodation for you within the house and usually the use of a separate bathroom

Please note that our house is a no smoking zone!
