Are you an energetic, easy going hard worker looking for an amazing opportunity in the Caribbean? Our Nature Camp is looking for you!

Leave your fast paced, chaotic life behind and come join us in the tropical rainforest of Dominica (no, not Dominican Republic). The Commonwealth of Dominica, also known as The Nature Island, is the true, laid back, friendly Caribbean – untouched and real!

Relax, rejuvenate or adventure out and discover everything this lush paradise has to offer. It’s the perfect mix of eco tourism, nature, wellness, culture and friendly people.

We are seeking candidates to join us in our tropical home paradise. You don’t need prior experience, just an openness to learn, willingness to work, a spontaneous nature and hunger for adventure! We are always trying to improve our program and create new enriching experiences for our participants. We are specifically looking for those with creative minds who can see the opportunities around them, devise solutions, jump in and get their hands dirty.

We welcome self-motivated workers of all backgrounds who are willing to give us a few hours of honest help per day, in exchange for accommodation and organic meals and an opportunity to learn and experience rewilding, holistic nutrition, movement and sustainable living, with friendly hosts in a beautiful natural setting. Sounds good? Keep reading!

Our action packed Volunteer Program is a remarkable blend of interactive learning, meaningful work, physical activity and great adventures that will take you exploring untouched natural wonders in a country filled with breathtaking landscape and lush green foliage.

We offer a unique opportunity for experiential learning in the areas of rewilding, movement, holistic nutrition and sustainable living while residing in a beautiful place, eating nourishing food from the land and working with a group of unique individuals from around the globe.

You will become a part of our team and community here at our Nature Camp. Volunteers play an integral role in the upkeep of our nature camp and in making a difference on our Nature Island, as well as our planet! Challenge yourself to make a change that will have a lasting impact on your life and the lives of others.

Our Volunteer Program is for the duration of one month, several times throughout the year, based on demand. It is a group experience for those who enjoy being around people and living communally.

Our Nature Camp is a family run, off the grid eco lodge and homestead striving to master optimal wellbeing through rewilding, movement, holistic nutrition and sustainable living for deeper health, awareness, and nature connection!

Solo travelers, couples and the entire family can enjoy a very unique experience like no other. We are deeply connected to nature, living sustainably and off the grid – no television, city lights, noise pollution or traffic. Our electricity is generated by the sun (solar panels) and our fresh clean water comes from a natural spring and stream on the mountains behind us. Everything we do is with sustainable living, holistic health and happiness in mind.

We look for volunteers who are eager to learn, that enjoy working outdoors and understand our concept - proactive and positive thinking individuals. We offer an enriching work environment that gives you the opportunity to explore. We try to create place so people can expand their vision and see their real potential. If you are just looking for a free place to sleep and relax, you may prefer coming as a guest. But if you are looking for a place to expand your mind, learn new stuff, share what you know, work and help, then apply today! :)

General day-to-day tasks will include anything that needs doing to keep The Nature Camp running smoothly and to look after travelers and other volunteers, as well as caring for animals and maintaining our 6 acres of organic land and structures. The work range will vary greatly from stimulating group projects to meditative weeding! ;)

The type of work depends on the season and the particular needs of our property. If you are volunteering during the rainy season (July to October) you can expect to do plenty of planting, trimming, pruning, composting, weeding and mulching, and in the dry season (January to April) collecting dry organic matter for composting and mulching, painting, building, etc. A lot will be determined by “high” season with guests as well, when you’ll be helping with The Nature Camp flow a lot more. We also take on new building projects (that can’t take rain) during the dry season, so you may be appointed to help with one of those (cob building, making a natural stone pool, carpentry, painting, etc.). In general, we need plenty of help from volunteers in various areas year round.

At Beyond Vitality Nature Camp we are truly immersed in nature. There’s nothing like sleeping in fresh air to the sounds of the rainforest! We, The S Family (Sara - wife, Stephan - husband, Skyla - 4 years and baby Sadiel – 11 months), also live on the premises and run the property.

Hammock and beds:
Our volunteers are given a very comfortable, but simple and rustic accommodation in our beautiful open-air hammock hut placed in a comfortable sleeping hammock (South American indigenous tribes choose to sleep in these as a healthier and more comfortable option!). For group programs, our single beds also become available as an accommodation choice, otherwise these are normally reserved for paying guests. Accommodations go at a first come first served basis.

You also have the option of pitching your tent on our campground if you prefer your privacy. If you would like to camp, please bring your own camping gear. All accommodation choices are equipped with a communal outdoor bathroom and shower facility and camp style kitchenette (which should be used consciously).

Our open-air accommodations are built with bamboo, wood, cob and some other local material. To this day, our travelers have had no need to use a mosquito net in beds or hammocks, therefore we do not have any available at The Nature Camp. However, you are welcome to bring your own. We can provide those staying in a single bed with some bedding (sheets and pillow), but we highly encourage travelers, to bring their own blanket/travel sleeping bag (or warm clothes) as nights can get cold, especially in hammocks.

Depending on the number of volunteers at a given time, accommodation is generally shared. Long-term interns and those helping with special projects could occasionally be placed in a basic cabin for extra comfort, possibly shared with another worker. If space allows, we’ll try our best to offer you your privacy, but the shared experience is life changing – in a positive way! Please keep in mind that Beyond Vitality is a place for people who enjoy communal living, a simple lifestyle and being close to nature.

At Beyond Vitality, you can relax and rejuvenate with beautiful mountain views or venture out into the rainforest and discover beautiful natural wonders. Don’t be afraid to explore the road less traveled.

Wake up and meditate to the sounds of nature. Enjoy a nature walk exploring our 6 acres of organic fruits trees, vegetable and herb gardens followed by a refreshing swim in our natural fresh water pools. Sun bathe by the stream and take in the sites of the beautiful rainforest. Enjoy a picnic in the food forest or lounge in a hammock. Take a hike down the hill and finish off with some yoga in the botanical gardens. You can also ask questions to expand your knowledge about all sorts of herbs, superfoods and wild edibles.

Dominica is truly unique! There is so much to see and do. Make sure to visit all four coasts, the interior (tropical rainforest), the hot springs, the many waterfalls and rivers, the beaches, the volcanoes, the boiling lake, the national trail and much much more!

If you’re in need of adventure, there is a large range of attractions to choose from near The Nature Camp. Have a swim at the beautiful Castle Bruce Beach and/or river, which is just a short trek away. Take a hike and have a relaxing dip in the crystal clear Emerald Pool. Mermaid Pool, our favourite family swim hole, is also near The Nature Camp. You can visit the Kalinago Territory (indigenous people of Dominica) and L’Escalier Tête Chien on the east coast, or soak and relax in one of the sulphur hot springs at Morne Trois Pitons National Park (hike there via Segment 5 and 4). Beyond Vitality is right across the road from segment 5 of the The Waitukubuli National Trail, which runs the full length of the island. Nearby are also segments 4 and 6. Spanny’s Waterfall, Rainforest Mushrooms Organic Farm, Sultan Falls and Jacko Falls are all a short drive away. Discover the environs at your own pace or let us take you to some of the sweetest spots of the Nature Island with our full day excursions!

Dominica offers much more than a stunning nature adventure. Its interesting history and rich culture is a blend of English, French, African, and Kalinago peoples. Colorful costumes, music, and arts are on display at a host of events, from Carnival to the World Creole Music Festival, and the many independence celebrations around the island. Dominica is the last of the islands with a pure blood indigenous tribe. Approximately 2,000 Kalinago people (last remaining indigenous tribe of the Caribbean) remain on the island, most living in the Kalinago Territory in northeast Dominica – a definite must see during your visit. You’ll also have the pleasure of meeting (and possibly hearing) an international artist and lead singer from Swinging Stars, one of the leading bands in Dominica, Stephan Subero – also one of your nature camp hosts!
