Tyddyn Retreat ( is an inspiring eco venue and self catering holiday cottages in the beauty of the Cambrian Mountains near Machynlleth, Mid Wales. A hideaway that's also accessible.

We have a farmhouse and four barns. One barn is converted into a stunning meeting/ workshop space & private cinema; two stone barns are now beautiful cottages filled with light, beams, high ceilings and natural materials - including oak floors and furniture, exposed stone, traditional lime plaster etc.

Our Summerhouse Cabin is a precious quiet space, which I often live when the Farmhouse is welcoming guests: I have actually been staying in the Summerhouse since before Easter! When guests are not in the Farmhouse, I spend time there too - including in my study.

The magical land includes two pretty meadows and a dingle, with deep cut streams, tall oak trees and a pond. We have a tipi and stone circle with fire pit, a polytunnel, and plenty of spaces to sit for personal quiet time or conversation.

We always need help on the land and in the upkeep of the buildings, in addition to progressing the latest project ! Anyone have experience with using a chain saw to cut wood? Putting a polytunnel up? Painting/ decorating? Making seats from wood? Building a wooden cabin or tree house?

Happy to provide food… shall be grateful for help in cooking something delicious, given my busyness with other things.

Do have a look at our website and see if you might like to join us and help for a while.

Writing this sitting in glorious sunshine with the sounds of the birds, streams and bees.... Lucky us
