Hi all! Are you interested to build your own home from straw and clay? Are you new to green building techniques and want to learn more? Or you simply want to have some fun playing with straw and clay as building materials? Come and join us in our exciting event of Straw and Clay Workshop 4th edition. This year it will be held 14-17th June and like previous editions it will be directed by one of the leading pioneers of green building techniques in Poland, Lukasz Kielmas. Lukasz is the designer and builder of many strawbale houses in Poland and has vast experiences in conventional and non-conventional building techniques.
Last year we had lots of fun and managed to set straw in the walls and cover them from outside with the main layer of clay. This year we will work on the walls inside and and put the external finishing clay plaster. You will learn:
- Tools and materials that are needed for strawbale house
- Prepare the straw wall for plastering: cutting straw and filling the gaps with straw
- Placing the first ground layer which is the anchor for the main layer
- Prepare the mix for the main layer from sand, clay and straw and place it on the wall
- Finish the external wall plaster to protect it from the elements
We start with breakfast at 8am. The workshop starts at 9am and we finish at 6pm. Around 2pm there is a lunch break and after the workshop is a light dinner. Sleeping in your own tents and sleeping bags. Composting toilet and outside hot shower on site. The photo narrative from previous editions you can see here:

We charge for the workshop only 20 euros for 4 days.

Besides the workshop I am continuing to build my home myself
and if you want to come and help me under normal helpx conditions you are obviously welcome. I will be working on my house from now on until 22nd of June. Hope to see your face!

A word about me might be useful. I am the husband of my beloved Agata and the father of my wonderful Lucy. Interested in organic farming, permaculture, natural building techniques (strawbale homes, cob houses, thatched roofs, clay floors, rocket mass heaters and what have you...). A lover of greenish and bluish dotted with all kind of flowers.
