We are small hobby farm on the beautiful LaHave river on the South Shore of Nova Scotia.
In exchange for room and board (home-cooked meals mainly off our own land) we would like about 4-5 hours of work per day/5 days/week. Duties depend on your abilities and talents and include (depending on season):
- Landscaping and yard maintenance
- Cleaning
- Planting, tending, harvesting vegetable gardens
- Tending chickens, ducks and geese and rabbits
- Splitting and stacking firewood
- Preserving food
- Painting
- Carpentry
We are located directly on the LaHave River only 10 km from Bridgewater and only 5 km from the famous LaHave Bakery. Our hobby farm has grown to include several large vegetable gardens, poultry and rabbits as well as bees and sustainable forestry. There is a guest cottage available to the helpers. The private cottage has a private bathroom, a kitchenette and WIFI access. We love cooking and food. Helpers share home cooked meals with us and may use our bicycles or kayak.
