We are the best of friends who live together and run a 24-hour café in Oneonta, New York. We built our rustic Deli with our own hands, using old rustic barn wood and other recycled materials. We love working together to serve good, wholesome food in a warm, encouraging environment — a haven from the storms of life.

Our community is part of a worldwide network of communities, many of which also run cafes, organic farms, and cottage industries where volunteers are also welcome to live and work with us.

We all work together in our houses and at our café. There is a lot to do in maintaining a community. We have two large houses and a café that need constant care and attention. We enjoy having guests and volunteers who want to get to know us by living and working with us.

We gather together every morning (at 7am) and evening (at 6pm) to express whatever is on our hearts, to sing and dance, and to give thanks to our Creator before sitting down at the table to share our meals together. Love is our home. You are welcome to come and see... for a day, or to stay!

We all live together in our two large houses — married couples, children, and single people. In addition to the family spaces, we have dorm-like quarters for the single men and single women (gender-segregated). Sometimes we can accommodate married couples who want to visit. We work together to keep our home clean and secure. We do not have pets and are not in a place to accommodate animals.

By saying we are a “community” we do not mean a loose association of individuals in a common geographical location. We are more like a large extended family of married couples, single people, and children sharing a common life and vision. Our life together is based on the teachings of Yahshua, the Messiah (called “Jesus” in most English Bibles), according to the pattern of the first-century communities described in Acts 2 and 4.

We do not try to “convert” our guests, but we do expect them to participate in our life, attending our gatherings, twice daily; and sharing our meals, out of respect and a desire to experience our way of life. We also request that our guests would refrain from the use of alcohol or drugs during their time with us, and respect the purity of our life.
