We are looking for a live-in couple or two friends willing to share a 5m bell tent to work with us from 22nd July until 1st September.
The role is to support us (the main wardens) in running the site and cover us on our days off. Good fitness levels and a high proficiency in the English language are a must. Please only apply if there is two of you and if you can stay with us for the whole duration of the summer holidays. Work load will vary between 15 - 25h per week.

The site: This position is ideal for nature lovers! Our beautiful off-grid campsite is located in a 600 acre woodland in East Sussex in an area of outstanding natural beauty. It is a low noise, family-oriented place and no cars are allowed into the campsite. We have 'bring-your-own' tent pitches and glamping belltents each tucked into its own glade. We offer the closest thing to wild camping, with the added luxury of basic facilities. There is mains drinking water and running hot water, but no electricity. And, of course, lots of trees.
Several pubs, a cafe, post office and convenience store are in walking distance (30-45 mins). The historic town of Battle (for supermarkets, public library with Internet access, cafes, pubs and restaurants as well as Battle Abbey) is only 2 miles away. In your time off we recommed you explore the vast woodland and beaches nearby, or just relax on site.

Your hosts: We are a small and friendly company with an interest in sustainability and creating a nice working environment. Your main point of contact will be the on-site Wardens. We are Lawrence and Theresa, and we have been running the site for four years. We love living an outdoor livestyle and meeting like-minded people. Lawrence is a musician and Theresa is training to be a permaculture teacher. We have both had great experiences volunteering ourselves and have hosted some wonderful volunteers. We are both eagerly learning Portuguese so native Portuguese volunteers are especially welcome. We would prefer someone/a couple who have a good level of English. If your intention is to learn English, then we may not be a suitable host for you.

You will be working along side the main campsite wardens in running the site and also cover them on their days off. Running the site entails checking in guests, manning reception, cleaning facilities and furnished bell tents and general maintenance.

What we expect of you:
- flexibility to work between 15 and 25h per week
- respect for our woodland
- a helpful, energetic attitude (outdoor life isn't always easy, especially in the colder months and when the sun isn't shining so please come well prepared)
- openness and a willingness to work and to try new things

What you can expect:
- a woodland camping experience
- a supportive team around you
- weekly food stipend
- basic and practical accommodation in a furnished 5m bell tent (shared for a couple or friends travelling together). We provide simple camping cooking equipment for you to make your own food and we take you shopping if required. Bathroom facilities are shared with our campsite guests. We have outdoor bucket showers, regular toilets and compost toilets. Toilet roll and biodegradable hygiene products are supplied.
