Dragon’s place
A place where everyone is welcome.
And specially all those who wish to learn more about the new Celtic perspective and put into practice the harmonious integration of landscape and people, which provides for food, energy, shelter, and other material and non-material needs in a sustainable way.
In fact, it is an empirical experiment and update of the ideas of Permaculture set by Bill Mollison:
Food:  We work on our quinta (4 hectares own + 4 hectares use), together with local traditional farmers and other biological farmers in the area, learning from each other to provide healthy food not only for ourselves, but also for others.
Our quinta is in a beautiful natural area in the centre of Portugal. It is an old Celtic place, consisting of large areas of woodland and a terraced vineyard, where you can enjoy a natural lifestyle. Living on the quinta is also an adventure and we are very supportive/ almost self-sufficient. For almost 200 years, generations of the same family have lived there.  When we arrived in 2003, there was only a wild area (jungle), where for over 30 years no one had done anything with it. We have already cleared a lot of areas, and we still continue to discover new findings (including trails of Wicca). There are several sources of water and ingenious water distribution networks. Of the three stone buildings on the property, one has already been restored and another one is already planned for restoration. There are a lot of fruit trees in addition to the vineyard and we are already making our own wine.  We have goats, who help to keep the forest clean. Some terraces are cultivated with vegetables, where special water saving irrigation systems are used.
Energy:  We are a part of a group (homeland Belgium) who has lot of experience (3 generations) in all kind of energy solutions. We are workaholic inventors and above average technically equipped. We wish to share knowledge and technical capabilities and operate world wide in many sustainable projects (recently in Portugal and Africa).  We provide free technology and help many communities to become independent. We also provide free first line advice and organise lots of workshops for different budgets. Farmers can use our equipment for making their own vegetable oil (from seeds) and animal food. And much more…….! Because our group is growing recently and we hope to ensure a follow-up for the knowledge of older generations, preserving lots of inventions (like a unique thermodynamic engine).
Shelter:  We rebuilt one of the ruins in our property and can help others with our experienced advice and practical assistance (machine works). We accept some work in exchange.
Other material needs:  We have a large stock and lots of sources of used material of all kinds. We are big promoters of reuse in strict contrast to recycling basic raw material. We provide workshops where we to teach how to dismantle and reuse all parts of any kind of equipment (e.g. old washing machines). For instance, we have recently demonstrated how to make a very good water turbine for producing electricity, out of scrap material (from car turbo and washing machine motor). We collect all kind of scrap and also a lot of waste products, like old oil of any source (also old cooking oil). We use micro filtrating without energy to reuse oil for lubricating like chainsaw or hybrid fuel for wood gas or diesel engines.  Don’t throw away things! We gladly exchange items and sometimes also pay for them.
Non material:  I am Dirk, Technical (freak?) but also a spiritual (Celtic) master (mentor). Christine is a former highly educated and skilled nurse, who practiced and studied alternative methods for healthcare. She has learned a lot and has gained empirical experience in agriculture and also cultivates herbs.
We respect nature and every living thing on Earth. We see humans as a part of nature and classify them as predator, even if they are strictly ecologist, vegan or other.
We believe in natural hierarchy and wish to build up a community with 3 or 4 interns and lots of external links at different levels.  We don’t discriminate based on gender, colour or sexual interests. We don’t accept the false moral of an unnatural and hypocrite society.
We are music addicts who enjoy many different music styles. We like to organise parties on our quinta as we are very found of live music. We can provide the sound and light systems. I (Dirk) was very active (technically and in the organisation) in the live music scene of the 60’s.
“We must be the change we wish to see” Within Temptation in the song “See Who I Am” on the album “The Silent Force” (Listen to the music) but originally from Ghandi: “Be the change you wish to see in the world”
Will you join us? Don’t stay on your island!
