We want to produce more food on our urban, organic 1/3 acre and could use help with gardening work. Some of this work is light and some requires strength for digging and carrying. People interested in Permaculture and self-sufficiency would like it here. Learning is continuous.

There is a bee hive and some shiitake mushroom growing logs that may need watering.

Usually we also have house maintenance jobs of one kind or another. So we have a variety of work and try (within what needs to be done) to find something that suits our helper.

Our 1906 villa sits on a north-facing hillside. It takes 40-50 minutes to walk here from Dunedin city centre. Two bus routes stop nearby. Helpers have their own room and share our bathroom. We eat a little meat and fish but are primarily vegetarian ---- and can host vegans who do not mind what we eat. Our family has a young man with intellectual disability.

We ask you to stay for the minimum of a week. St Clair beach and salt water pool are a 30-minute walk. There are a number of good walking tracks in the area. If you have a car, you can easily travel to beaches to watch seals, penguins or sea lions. For surfing, you need a wetsuit.
