Welcome to Whakauti,

We are a family of 4, myself my daughter , her baby and our 1 rescue dog.
We live in the beautiful Huon Valley in a place called Cradoc which is close to Cygnet and Huonville township.
Our home is on 16 acres of Bushland where we have a small vege patch and fruit trees. We maintain and cut our own firewood, we build and create and enjoy our humble abode.
Our home is small and simple...we cook off gas and sometimes off our fire and we are on tank water, which means we have to watch our usage in the summertime due to lack of rain.
We are vegetarians and would love to try something different from another culture.

We would be asking for 2 hours a day with 2 days off with plenty of time to explore and enjoy your stay in Tasmania. We offer short stay only 1-2 weeks stay depending on our availability.

The type of work involved would be helping out with walking our dog, cooking an evening meal from time to time, help with firewood, maintaining grounds and some gardening, Perhaps some house painting and help with building and repairing caravans and clearing bush tracks around dams etc.
There is even room for creating also...

Our helpers would be staying in one of our vintage retro caravans and sharing the bathroom facilities with the family.
There is a no smoking policy for inside the caravans, please smoke outside.
We are a pretty relaxed family who enjoy good company and learning about other countries and their culture.

In early January we have the Cygnet Folk Festival...which goes for 2 days.
In feb/March we have 10 days on the Island and Taste of Tasmania...and much more.
We live on the Channel Highway 11ks from Huonville and 8ks from Cygnet, buses run daily and can be caught 300 metres up the road.

If you are looking for great food & great atmosphere then head to Cygnet township for your coffee & food needs, there are a range of good eating places with variety.

Whakauti is a place of recovery and is a alcohol & drug free environment.

If this homestay sounds like you...then we look forward to meeting you.
