Goat milking is slowing down, sheep are having babies, cow milking and cow cheese will start soon, farmers markets continue until November. Hiking our 400+ acres to see the colors is MANDATORY and we will be cutting our winter wood weekly. Beautiful farm and friendly place with very productive animals here. Come visit.
UPDATE!!! And just like that (finger snap) it is baby season and I need all hands on deck! We have over 40 lambs on the ground so far and I have 35 goats ready to birth soon. All goat kids will be raised on bottles so if you enjoy nurturing jumpy happy energetic baby goats ...this is your place. House is heated with wood, wear warm clothes, my day starts at 5 am. Helpers usually start a bit later. We can accommodate schedules haha!

OLDER POST;Beautiful fall foliage in upstate NY. Any FUN energetic helpers would be more than welcome on our beautiful farm. Lambing season is right around the corner, and of course the cow milking and cheese making is happening daily! Goat babies start mid February make your plans and come visit!

Winter is starting and we are always open to more volunteers. The cows are having calving now so we are starting our 2x day milkings and making cow cheese. Bringing in lots of firewood and trying to keep on top of it all… :-)

someone takes the sheep out for a few hours so they can graze (no fence), feeding pigs and chickens twice a day AND helping us keep it all cleaned up! We have a huge garden that needs attention, lots of good eating in there.

No lazies please, self starters, people who really want to be here and participate get the best experience and are the most happy. We are 5 hours of GOOD help. Some cooking always appreciated!

Need help with bottle feeding, goat milking, barn organizing, cheese prep! And of course the usual barn help, animal tending, cow milking… Winter has been easy on us (shhhh) so hopefully we can get some field and garden prep done soon.

THe new farm is quickly cooing to life! 12 cows, 31 goats, 32 sheep , 40 rabbits, 20 pigs, 60 chickens…there's a lot of good going on here. I am in need of some fun, reliable helpers if anyone is looking for accommodation in the beautiful Hudson Valley.
Lots of animal care, fence building, house help, landscaping.

After 23 years in the beautiful Tuscany, Italy raising goats and making cheese, we have moved to the USA in 2014 to the Hudson Valley of NY. A beautiful old, abandoned farm was calling us and we picked up the phone! A very large property that has tons of potential. At the moment haying is the only actual farming activity going on. We just got the keys to the property so we will be re stabilizing (clean up, planting, designing) flower gardens, putting in large veg gardens, cleaning out the barns (8 of them) of old tools, lumber, hay (no manure!) for renovation. Prepping barns for animal housing, fence building, trail making, cutting firewood and just having a lot of merriment while bringing something so beautiful back to life. As I mentioned, we have been milking goats and making cheese 20= years in Italy and plan to do the same here. Will eventually have 80-100 dairy goats, flock of sheep for pasture maintaining (and meat of course), hogs for drinking all that whey and a couple of milk cows for when the dairy goats are pregnant the cheese making doesn't stop!
It's a great whey (get it) to spend the weekend or a week. We ask 5 hours of good work (4-5 hours go very fast when the work is good and productive) in exchange for a beautiful place to stay, breakfast and mid day meal. Plenty of things to do and see in the area.
Note that the photos and video below show my old place in Italy.
The rooms for helpxer's are clean and comfortable. The house is beautiful. Shared bathrooms. YOu have full use of the kitchen (clean up your own messes!)
Bring your bikes and hiking shoes. Plenty of on road and off road biking (400 acres to explore). 20 min bike ride to town. The Hudson river is a 10 minute drive (30mph speed limit slows us down....gives us time to take it all in :-) )
