Straw Bale Building and Permaculture Projects
We are a friendly, enthusiastic couple working towards a sustainable lifestyle on our 5 acre organic farmlet in the beautiful Chittering Valley, 50kms from the Perth metropolitan area.

We welcome HELPX's to get involved in some of the exciting and fun projects happening on the farm. The major ones at the moment are; finishing the lime rendering of our lovely straw bale house, building and planting up our Geodesic dome vegie garden and converting our fruit orchard to a Permaculture Food Forest.

The general sort of work you can expect to do during your stay with us depends on the weather, your interests and any special skills you bring. Some of the main outside jobs are; preparing garden beds, planting vegie seeds and seedlings, planting and mulching fruit trees in our home orchard and picking yummy organic fruit, watering plants, collecting eggs, weeding, and any other vegie garden and orchard maintenance that needs doing. Inside jobs include; helping with lime rendering, putting up and stocking new storage shelves, and re-organising tools and equipment in sheds.

We anticipate each guest will work 20-25 hours per week but are very flexible about how the work hours are completed to allow you to structure your free time as you prefer.

Accommodation is in the main straw bale homestead with shared meals or in a separate self-contained caravan if you prefer.

All our guests share daily housekeeping and cooking tasks with us with primarily a vegetarian menu to which meat can be added if preferred.

So if you would like to learn more about Straw Bale building, Permaculture, organic food production and other sustainable living skills, have some fun along the way and perhaps share some of your skills with us then we would love to have you.

Email us directly or call after 8am and before 9pm.
