We are a small independently run hostel in Belfast. Currently rated number 1 in Northern Ireland on hostelworld. We like to have people work with us who are friendly and outgoing, who are here to get something from this experience, socialize with the guests and staff, create a buzz and be a contributing character and presence to the hostel. In exchange for free accommodation in our 6 bed mixed staff dorm you will be required to work up to 3-4 hours a day either cleaning the hostel and making beds in the morning or reception duties during the day plus 1 night shift per week which is from 8pm to 8am. After your night shift you get that day off! We are a super friendly and chilled out hostel with artwork on nearly every wall which guests who are artists have done while they have stayed with us. We see it more of a homely feel hostel as the volunteers stay on site and they treat it as if it were their home. We do ask for a minimum stay of 1 month so you can learn the ropes and get familiar with the hostel and get to have a real feel for the city.

Hi! My name is Jamie, I'm the manager. I'm from Geelong, Australia and have been traveling around since July 2014. I'm a pretty laid back and relaxed kinda guy, I started to volunteer here in November 2014 and have been part of the hostel ever since. When i started i found the place to be really fun and relaxed and everyone very welcoming. The owner, Mark, is a really friendly, young Irish guy who has traveled the world and has designed the hostel to what travelers expect from a hostel. He also has a cool little Boston terrier dog named Buju that never leaves his side! Hes pretty cool! Over the past 2 years i have been in and out of the hostel traveling and working, and no matter how long i leave for i have always been welcomed back by Mark. I have been to a fair few countries in Europe including working for 2 months in an international street market in Sweden and Denmark. If you choose to stay and volunteer with us you will have full unlimited access to all the facilities here at GV including Netflix, Xbox, 4 guitars and 2 amps, keyboard and a cajone! Free unlimited internet and apple macs, free pool table and Foosball table, free kitchen facilities (2 ovens and stoves, 2 sinks, microwave, pots and pans and cutlery) free pasta, spices, rice, bread, jam, cereal, milk and free laundry facilities! We only have 48 beds so it is considered a small hostel but we are very concentrated on the guest/volunteer interaction. This results in a much better experience for both guest and volunteer. If this sounds like something you would be interested in, we look forward to hearing from you and possibly meeting you! Jamie GV
