We are a charity set in the heart of the Hanmer Forest - about 1 and a half hours from Christchurch in the South Island, that hosts schools, groups, families and individuals in our beautiful alpine smoke-free facility 2.5km from the village. Having a car is essential if working in the village, or you can use our push bikes.
We require couples or single people to either share a room or have their own room (depending on availability) that are travelling to work for accommodation (WOOFing) to come and help us with daily tasks of cleaning and maintaining the facilities and grounds. You will work 4 hours per day between you, 5 days/week until 2 pm each working day (please note a minimum of 6 weeks commitment), however you can stay longer if you wish.
This position is perfect for those wanting to stay in Hanmer Springs for a while and relax in the famous Thermal Pools or go mountain biking or hiking on the many trails. We can point you in the right direction to look for paid evening work in the Village. Please note this is not suitable for anyone looking for paid morning work in the Village.
Perks include sharing a 3 bedroom house for all our WOOFing staff with its own kitchen, lounge and bathroom facilities, free washing machine and cheap wifi.
Essential Requirements
1. Must hold a current working holiday visa.
2. Must have a car if wanting paid work in the village or use push bikes (3 minute drive or 25 minute walk)
3. The camp is smoke-free - there is one designated smoking area for woofers in the front yard. Please note there is no shelter in the smoking area.
4. Must keep house and room tidy
5. Must respect our natural environment and live and work sustainably
