I have a small plant and tree nursery set in very rural area between London and Cambridge.
We also grow fruit and vegetables
My home is just 3 miles away in a tiny tranquil hamlet.
You would stay in a purpose built chalet in the garden or in my home dependent upon weather conditions.
Meals are provided. I am not vegetarian and vegetarians generally cook their own meals with me providing the food.
You would work 5 hours per day for 5 days per week or 25 hours spread over 3 days.
I receive guests from all over the world who are registered with the Worldwide opportunities in organic farming.
Helpers may work at my home, my garden, or my nursery.
In addition, volunteers may participate in schemes outside of the above. For instance, we may do garden or grounds maintenance at homes or organisations.
I have volunteers from a very wide spectrum of society from persons resident in hostel for the homeless to serving police officers and a research scientist. Age ranges from teens to 80's
Last year, we participated in a project run by Eden Project and Homeless Trust in growing plants for and helping build one of the largest display gardens at the renowned Chelsea Flower Show
This year, we shall be mounting a disp[lay garden at the Herts Show for the last weekend in May and a stall at numerous local events and markets.
The work is varied and interesting and you will meet a number of other volunteers who live in the local area.
Our social enterprise has elicited a lot of interest from politicians and other social enterprises and charities.
