Our farm is located just ten minutes north of Colonia del Sacramento, a charming colonial port town on the Rio de la Plata. The previous owner and visionary of this place, a few years back established an almond plantation, the only one of its kind in the whole area. The farm has also several fruit trees including lemon, lime, grapefruit, guava, nispero, membrillo, pitanga, peach, apple and avocado. There is also a small forest (eucalyptus, ligustro, fresno) where we harvest our own wood for winter and basic building purposes. At the moment we have six dogs, two cats, four horses and three donkeys. We also have our own bee hives. Daily tasks range from weeding, planting, harvesting, digging up post holes, watering, fixing up things, basic building projects, feeding the animals, etc, etc. In addition, we have a vacation rental that supports the farm during high season and we also need occasional help with this. As you can imagine there is plenty to do on a daily basis and not enough hands so we need volunteers that are willing to work with gusto and passion. We ask for 5 hours a day of your time and in exchange we offer you your own sleeping quarters, separate kitchen and breakfast with delicious homemade bread, jams and fresh farm eggs. At the moment, we require a one or two week stay with us. I was a helpx volunteer myself and gained a lot from the experience. We are in the process of relocating and starting a new garden plot so we need most of the help with that project along with other things!
