This is a small farm on the sea loch of Loch Broom, next to the fishing village of Ullapool which is 6 miles further along the coast.

We have sheep and cattle (including highland cattle) plus there are areas of wildlife management. On the farm there are two rivers which flow into the broom estuary, which support salmon, sea trout, otters and sea birds.

The farmhouse is located at the head of Loch Broom. We are in the process of developing the farm towards organic certification and doing work to live up to Scottish Agricultural Department biodiversity requirements.

The farm is organised by Jane and worked by our one day a week farmer Brian, Johnny and helpers.

We garden vegetables in a large poly tunnel and aim to eat and provide organic and sustainable food from the farm and local area.

Typical work hours are about four or five hours a day.
Typical jobs are clearing brush and coppicing for land management, sheep husbandry and clipping, renovations of a cottage, painting, cutting rushes, cow and sheep wrangling, timber harvesting and fencing. Typical hours on projects are about four or five hours a day

We are looking for friendly enthusiastic self motivated and hard working helpers who are happy doing everyday jobs for example cleaning, collecting wood or farm jobs helping with the cows and sheep. Helpers who are able to dig postholes for fencing now and assist in the deer management (September) are particularly valued.

Driving or experience with farm machinery is also a valuable asset and for that helpers should idea be over 25.

Accommodation for helpers is either in the farmhouse or in a comfortable static caravan.

In the deer stalking season (September to January) helpers maybe required to assist with managing red deer with rangers in the hills where it is possible to see eagles, ospreys and wildlife in one of the most remote places in the highlands.

The farm is in a really beautiful location and makes a very good base to explore the west coast, surf, or mountain climb.
