I am an older lady whose adult daughter has left home for work, so have lots of room for a Helpx to come and stay with me in the beautiful, safe, country town of Flinders.
I am a retired Teacher and Social Worker - so am happy to provide daily English coaching should you wish to improve your skills.
Accommodation is a large bedroom with double bed and a private door opening onto a secluded veranda and outside seating. Bathroom facilities are shared.
I am happy to take you to visit local wildlife, sights and activities and provide free delicious multinational food (can cater for vegetarians)and accommodation in exchange for 3 to 4 hours (flexible) general house keeping and house maintenance work per day outside and inside the house, organic fruit tree and vegie gardening and taking care of our chickens. Have the rest of the day to yourself to lounge with a book on our deck surrounded by birdlife and flowers, swim at the beach, go for a stroll, or visit the local shops or have really good coffee at a local café. All are 2 minutes walk away.
The smell and sound of the surf is our constant companion. We have real sunshine which you can enjoy on our deck, and at night you can see the stars and the southern cross in a clear dark sky. There are beautiful walks around Flinders and in nearby National Parks. The town is surrounded by farms, bushland, vineyards and home grown produce available at the farm gate.
I am booked out for February/early March 2020 but have vacancies late March and the beginning of April.
It is easy to get here. Catch the train from Melbourne to Frankston and switch to the Stoney Point train, getting off at Bittern Station and I can come and collect you. Otherwise, catch the bus (No 782) from Frankston Railway Station all the way through to Flinders.
Our family has lived here for 40 years as simply and sustainably as possible. I don't smoke, enjoy alcohol on the odd occasion, speak a little French and German, have two large very gentle german shorthaired pointer dogs who love to be taken on walks, and a woodfired potbellied stove for heating. Our home is our favourite place in the world. I am sure you will love it too.
