Hi there,
My Parnter, Andy (a Geordie) and I (Sheleen a Scouser) have been Living the Dream for 6 years now. We both have a passion for scuba diving and this is how we met. We both love to cook and entertain. We believe in work life balance. We are happy to be experiencing this right now.
As Ive backpacked around the world myself some of my favourite experiences were those spent volunteering. This was because I got to experience the culture of the country properly and I thought I would really like to offer that here.
We like to treat our volunteers like family, with respect and always include you in our leisure activities also, (this is optional of course), but just so you know its not all work work work. This enables you to experience real life in Bulgaria. You will meet our lovely neighbours and friends. We always say that our volunteers have a choice of hours but they all seem to want to just fit in with whatever we are doing. If you are going to be working full days every day we provide all meals and board. We dont expect you to work long hours every day, Some days are relatively easy, other days we may start a big project and expect you to muck in. Usually, there are a choice of jobs. If you want to do less hours we can come to an arrangement, we are flexible. Other jobs could be gardening, cooking, cleaning, weeding, fruit picking, walnut gathering, wine making, making jams, or helping on whatever building project we are working on at that time. We try to create a variety of tasks to make it more interesting for you.
Bulgaria is very unique. This is why we have chosen to live here and to try our hand at renovation and farming. We are enjoying this very much. Some of the things we learnt so far include cheesemaking, animal husbandry, beekeeping, traditional building methods, bulgarian traditions etc and we are still learning. Our Volunteers do not seem to want to leave us, so you have been warned. We have renovated our home, however we wish to commence with our next project (next door) which is to renovate a typical Bulgarian style house. We want to commence work on the swimming pool and there are a huge list of other projects too... 2 x barns need converting There is much to do in the garden also. We are a little bit behind with projects this year. We have 4 friendly dogs, chickens and bees. Your help will be appreciated and you will be treated as part of the family. We are lucky enough to have a luxury bathroom so you can have a nice hot shower every day. We have great internet access in our village also. Evenings are spent either just chilling out with a glass of wine or two, maybe a BBQ, or watching a movie, walking the dogs, or visiting and socialising with friends.

We are based in a village called Lomtsi. We are fortunate to be placed between the towns of Popovo and Razgrad. In Lomtsi there are 2 x bar/cafes, 1 x hardware shop, 1 Animal Feed Shop, 3 general stores. Lomtsi has a bakery with very nice bread made fresh every day. The bread...Its dangerous because its addictive.
Popovo is a small town with a good range of shops.
Razgrad is much bigger so there are more choices.
The region of Targovishte is famous for its wine, hunting and fishing. It is very beautiful here and most people fall in love with Bulgaria and do not want to leave. If you are interested in fishing there is a lake behind the village about 10 minutes walk away. We have bicycles so you can take a ride around the area.

There are excellent bus and rail services. Veliko Turnovo which is the old capital not far away. Ruse is the nearest big city.

We regularly go into the towns (Razgrad and Popovo) and cities and you would be welcome to get a lift with us. Or the bus is about a 2 minute walk.

Also there is a Restaurant/Swimming Pool Complex just up the road from us. There is also a bulgarian-style taverna/restaurant/hotel with Sauna, Jacuzzi and gym, in the summer they have entertainment evenings.

We look forward to meeting you and hearing about your adventures.

Sheleen Andy (Dogs: Millie, Little Fella aka Scruffy, Dante and Peepy (3 of which are rescues).
