What better place to experience the true New Zealand culture than living and working in one of the country’s largest outdoor education centres situated near the base of Mt Ruapehu – adjacent to the Tongariro National Park.

We would struggle to function without the commitment and huge amounts of work that our volunteers put in. Our volunteers work for 35 hours a week in the maintenance and gear hire departments and this gives you free food and board plus the chance to ski, climb, paddle, hike etc. in your free time. If you volunteer for 7 weeks then you will be able to observe an 5-day school activity course on the 8th week. Volunteers come to us from all around the world and are an important part of the centre’s culture.

Part of the deal is that you can volunteer for as long you want; from a minimum of 3 weeks to 6 months. To apply you must be over 18. Volunteers from overseas must have a valid work or working holiday visa plus medical/travel insurance for the duration of their time with us. Volunteering here is a great way to meet people, make friends and explore the Central North Island.
