At the moment things we need help with include cleaning up our gardens/compost/lawns which are out of control ready for planting. Maybe some gorse cutting and fertilizer spreading. Preparation of rooms/exterior for painting and maybe painting depending on weather etc.
Kia Ora and welcome to Aotearoa ... we are James, Kimberley and Anabelle.
Our own little paradise is a 12 hectare life-style farm at the foothills of the Tararua Ranges between Masterton & Carterton (approx. 75 mins drive to Wellington or Palmerston North). It is serviced by train from Wellington and also part of the bus network if you do not have your own transport.

We love the country lifestyle, living simply and we enjoy peace and quiet and stunning views. We are slowly renovating our home, landscaping and building food growing areas outside to provide a more sustainable living. Our home uses rainwater/solar hot water and we try to follow organic ways as much as practical especially pertaining to growing our own fruit, vegetables and meat.
We are interested in permaculture. We enjoy recycling and re-purposing materials where we can in our improvements. Our interests include cooking, gardening, music, travel, farming/animals, reading, woodworking and family. Anabelle enjoys animals, playgrounds, her cat & my little ponies.

We are warm, genuine, hard-working people. We appreciate people who are genuinely interested in helping out and joining in as part of our family. We are a NO-smoking and drug free home.
If you like early morning starts and want to join in as part of our family would fit in here READ ON

In return for between 4-5 hours work each person per day, we offer a warm and friendly home with your own bedroom, meals, and use of amenities (please note access to Wifi is limited).
Help around meal times preparing /setting/clearing up dishes is expected as this is part of daily living. If there are things you want to do in the area, we can be flexible on days worked. We prefer a 1 week stay (more by agreement so just ask)

There is always a variety of things on the go. Every day/week is different depending on the month & weather. Somethings are quite physical and others are not.
Helpers need to be motivated and prepared to try anything, at times get your hands dirty, at times work hard. If you can use your initiative, enjoy work and a good laugh you will fit in well here.

Tasks can include gardening, weeding, making compost, landscaping, digging/trenching, fencing, building garden beds/animal houses, splitting/moving firewood. Mowing lawns/weed-eating, cutting gorse, hay, feeding animals, painting or tiling, cleaning, making preserves, or child minding or whatever needs to be done.

So if you enjoy good food, stunning views, a bit of fun and good conversations and donít mind putting in some hard work, drop us a line and lets work out some time for you to come be part of our family.
We wish you safe and happy travels
