We (Mark and Alison) arrived in France in January 2013 having purchased a former farm just over a kilometre from the medieval town of Beaulieu-sur-Dordogne. We're based in the very south west tip of the Corrèze department of France, next to the Lot and Cantal and just a few miles from the Dordogne department. The area is rural, uncrowded, with beautiful countryside and stunning views.

We live in a converted barn on the land and are in the process of finishing restoring the former farmhouse into two gites/holiday cottages. which will be opening for business in June 2016. We are also finishing off the construction of a beautiful natural swimming pool for our guests.

We need to get our gites open by summer 2016. The first gite is finished, the second not far off. We also need to complete the natural swimming pool, and also just have a very big tidy up around the place, as 18 months of building works has taken its toll.

Therefore we are looking for physically fit, able and motivated individuals to help us achieve our goals. You can expect to help out around 4 to 5 days a week, for around 5 hours a day. The rest of the time you would be free to explore our beautiful local area, or just relax. You would be accommodated in our finished gite which has three bedrooms, a large kitchen/diner and large living area with TV (UK freesat at the moment), DVD player, HIFI. There is also free WiFi. On the days you work we would provide you with breakfast, lunch and dinner. The days you choose not to work, you would be expected to provide your own lunch.

Main tasks would include, but not be limited to:

- Helping complete the natural swimming pool (some heavy work, but also some planting and aesthetic work)
- Painting & decorating the second gite
- Tidying the outside areas and making it look beautiful again - clearing debris (some of it heavy) and taking to tip
- Gardening (strimming, cultivating the vegetable patch, weeding)
- Repairing and erecting fencing
- Landscaping

We have around five hectares of land in a small valley, made up of open pastures, woodland and two small streams. We love animals and nature and are the proud owners of three cats, two donkeys, nine hens, a cockerel and a hive of bees. There is also a wide variety of flora and fauna to see, and it never gets boring. There is always something to see and we love sharing this with other people. If you love the idea of a rural, quiet life then this will be perfect for you. We also have our own vegetable garden and hope to develop this over the coming years.

Beaulieu-sur-Dordogne is a small town about 2 minutes away by car, or twenty minutes on foot - although a small town there are grocery shops and a few bars and restaurants. In the summer season it is a very busy place and popular with tourists (hence why we're here!).

The nearest large towns are Brive-la-Gaillarde and Tulle, both around 40 minutes away. Public transport is limited, although we would be happy to offer you lifts when we can.
