Thanks to all the helpers we had in the last few months. Now with winter upon us, we won't require anymore helpers till October.
We like the 25 to 50's age-group with a bit of life's experience. Either way it's good to be fit and strong, preferably not scared of heights and happy to do heavy gardening like shoveling mulch and compost around, weeding etc as well as housework and cleaning.
We love having trades people and someone competent in fixing things, using a power saw for tree trimming etc and power tools. There must be one person with a driver's licence who is competent at driving on the left side of the road, and has had driving experience in NZ country roads.
Previous helpers have made us realise that if they have their own transport, it makes it easier to go sightseeing etc on their days off - it's not essential but gives you more freedom to explore our wonderful southern paradise!
In the last seven years, thanks to the great helpers we have had, we have completed a few landscaping projects in the garden, constructed a very nice fence, built a shed, painted some rooms inside as well as the general maintenance jobs, the cleaning inside and clearing and sorting sheds etc.
You will have your own fully equipped accommodation separate to our house so you can enjoy your own space. There is wireless internet at the house. We provide the food and you do your own cooking but depending how many people I have at the time, I will cook dinner for you most of the time.
We live in a very beautiful and central part of Southland in the heart of the Southern Lakes, just one hour south of Queenstown, on the main Highway 6 Between Queenstown and Invercargill. We are also only one hour from Te Anau and Fiordland. Our farm is largely river flat and fertile terraces - the Mataura river runs through the property. The farm is leased to a neighbor who does cropping for winter feed and dairy grazing. We are no longer involved in the day to day farming the of property but undertake property maintenance such as weed control, clearing old dead trees, maintaining farm tracks etc.
Being central to the Southern Lakes and Fiordland gives helpers plenty of opportunity to do sightseeing from here.
You will meet a variety of people - overseas guests, family and friends - there is never a dull moment here! Look forward to meeting you soon and sharing our little patch of paradise!
