We are a working regenerative farm in the beautiful Clare Valley, 1.5 hours north or Adelaide. Clare has modern gym facilities, cafes, wineries and cellar doors, restaurants and a picturesque landscape. We are looking for people to come and stay with us for a minimum of 3 months, but preferably for 6months or more. There is also plenty of casual work in our township for skilled chefs, wait staff and bar staff for extra income.

The type of person that matches our business, culture and farm requirements and who will get the most out of staying at our farm will have the following personal characteristics:
• Positive attitude and can communicate well with an interest in animals and food production
• Energetic and physically fit and strong
• Good listener with good comprehension and can follow instructions correctly
• Can work unsupervised is honest and open and can admit if mistakes are made
• Can remember instructions or write lists to remember them
• Is detail focussed, yet able to work in a changing environment
• Good communication – ideally English speaking
• Has strong initiative – driven and interested to do a good job – whether that be pick up a piece of rubbish or organise to put something important away that’s not meant to be out.
• Responsible, mature and can take responsibility to their actions
• Interested in working outside in nature, environmentally conscious and responsible
• You need to be an omnivore to work here as you will be handling raw meat and meat products as well. Vegetarians are welcome if they can manage this. We have found in the past Vegans don’t enjoy being here.
• Have a car and drivers license and have been driving in Australia already
• Like getting up early in the morning and can find a positive in a cold wet rainy morning!
• Can cope with thinking on their feet, and not always relying on constant written instructions (unless you can write them for yourself) or expecting others to think for them
• Can cook and eat seasonally and healthily. Processed food is not provided.
• Experience in growing vegetables
• Finally - a self starter to learn more while on farm and get the most out of the experience.

We offer accommodation in a private self contained caravan and house unit with own shower, toilet, lounge and new kitchen. Its basic, comfortable and clean and has heating/cooling if required. Our 4-6 hours of work each day covers daily chores and regular activity on the farm. Any further hours would involve payment, which would be negotiated after a trial period of approx 10-14 days. Work will be on weekends and week days with some weekends being busier than others and some weekends bringing time off. The work is variable and can change from day to day. Days off for travel and exploring can be arranged in advance and would be encouraged with Clare being central in South Australia close to Adelaide, Copper Coast, Outback, Riverland and Barossa. Sufficient healthy and mostly organic food is available on farm as part of the arrangement.

Our busy time is between September and May, when we are producing Chickens, Lamb, Beef and Pork for sale. Christmas is also very busy with orders and delivery, ham cooking and other activity.
Current availability is for helpers from July 2016 to April/May 2017.

Tasks can include but are not limited to:
-feeding lambs, pigs, cattle, chickens
-moving chickens daily
-moving pigs
-moving sheep and cattle
-maintenance and improvements like painting and cleaning, improvements and tidying up
-gardening and vegetable growing
-picking of fruit and preserving
-tree planting
-farmers markets
-delivering products
-household help
-office & administration
-meat packing
-building construction repairs and work including welding, carpentry, cementing and other maintenance jobs.

There could be long term work or sharefarming opportunities available for the right person/people after at least 6 months tenure if they wanted to stay on.
Our working hours are between 4 - 6 hours per day for on farm accommodation and food. We supply our own organic meats and eat a seasonal local diet of vegetables and fruit, meat and grow as much of our food as possible.
Our list is extensive because we have found many come to our farm expecting it to be a romantic relaxing holiday – when in fact we are busy farmers and do work long hours with much on our plate.
We are looking for a support crew to help us in our daily tasks....

You will get out of it, what ever you put in. We are a driven and innovative new age farm who enjoys good food, a great laugh and to see regeneration of our community, farm and animals as we produce delicious food for our clients.

We look forward to hearing from you.
