We are a couple with two children ages 8 and 4. We live on a 200 acre rural property in the beautiful rolling hills of Hastings Highlands, Ontario.

The property is half fields and half forest with a year round creek running through it, and many walking trails to enjoy.
We manage a large garden mostly for self sustenance, and in part for trade and sale.

Swimming lakes are a bike ride away (bikes are available for use on farm).

Volunteers will need to stay in their own tent, there are many nice places to set up a camp on the property. We can supply extra blankets / sleeping bag / pillows if needed.

There is an outhouse with outdoor sink near the volunteer sleeping grounds.

The property has a main house where our family lives and which is used communally with volunteers for eating, bathing, phone and internet use (high speed) and occasional group activities.

We are currently needing help in two main areas:
1. Organic farming (planting, weeding, watering, harvesting)
2. Natural building (we are currently building an earthen cabin using a slip clay technique with earthen plasters.)
We are experts in both fields (organic gardening and natural building) and can offer hands on instructions and theory to volunteers.

Our family is primarily vegetarian, with a preference for occasional organic meat (wild preferred).

We will supply meals daily in exchange for volunteer work.
Fresh produce is mostly from our gardens.

Volunteers are welcome to come for any length of time preferred. As of November when the snow flies, there will need to be a reorganizing of volunteer work based on change in seasonal activity.

Main volunteer help is needed from spring (March) to Fall (Novemeber).
