Our business is a small home-based husky farm. Our dogs are friendly
with a variety of personalities.

We constantly train dogs for the winter. The training consists of
running dog teams with cart or ATV mostly every day in the warmer
months. In preparation for winter, we build more kennels for the dogs
and chop firewood.

Volunteers share a bedroom and share the rest of the house with the
host. Internet access is available in the evenings. Volunteers join in
kitchen and housework. Hours are divided through the day, and it's
physically hard, but very rewarding.

During winter 2017-2018 we will work at two different places. At home
in Suomussalmi, and in Kuusamo, where we will be organizing husky

In the middle of November I will move to Kuusamo with most of the
dogs, and another guide comes to Suomussalmi.

In Suomussalmi our farm is located in a remote place in the forest
surrounded by swamps. There are good options for hiking, spending time
in nature and photography. The nearest city is 100 km away, but a
village with shops is only 26 km away. You should be prepared to stay
for longer periods out of the city. We have 2 rooms for volunteers
with beds for 4 people in each room. We have running water, shower and
sauna to use all the time. We have also cats and a few dogs are living
in the house. At Suomussalmi we occasionally host safaris, but most of
the work is with daily routines with the dogs that are either too old
or too young for safaris. The guide in Suomussalmi will work on other
things like training puppies, upkeeping the local sledding routes, and
taking care of the house.

In Kuusamo we live 7 km from a large ski resort and about 20 km from
Kuusamo city center. There is one room in trailer for the volunteers
that has 4 beds. The trailer does have electricity and kitchen, but no
running water. You can gain unique experience in camping-like
conditions. In Kuusamo, we do a lot of safaris where everyone will
help during the safaris, and with feeding and cleaning. You will also
learn to drive a snowmobile and get a lot of experience working with
