Dear lumberjacks, wood-fetisjists and forestspirits: we are looking for couples, duo's and individuals that can help us to turn our oak&chestnut forest into a permaforest/edible garden of eden.

We are living in an old barn in a forest over de Lot river. We aim to be off the grid in water (check!) and electricity (almost there..) and have future dreams of producing what we eat. To do this we have 7 hectares of forest to experiment, play, produce, live, sing and dance.

We're restoring the old apple orchard that was left by the generations before us. Also we're planting a new orchard (using permaculture principals) for generations to come. We have a little veg garden, where we try to find ways to be lazy gardeners but still have some stuff to harvest.

Tasks will be mainly outside in the forest. Cutting trees, restoring walls made with care by our ancestors, clearing land, planting trees, moving wood. Also, we definitely like to see you working your skills and creating the things you like!

For now we offer a tent in the forest as our guest-room, since the house is not finished yet. Sleeping in a tent will make you in close contact with the wildlife here. We have a big family of wild boar that comes by regularly (to see if they can get into the veg-garden for a little snack) and also foxes, pine martins and deer. You can hear them at night and they can come close to your tent. (If this idea frightens you, maybe this is not the place for you.)

The old barn serves as kitchen and living area. There is electricity to charge laptop and phone, water from our source, solar shower, dry toilet, laundry machine, music instruments to play with, nice books to have a look in, a hulahoop, and some more stuff to entertain ourselves..

We can share with you some knowlegde about: permaculture, grafting, forest management, solar electricity systems, ways to preserve harvest for winter and more 'homestead cooking' (all vegetarian), simple systems to start similar off the grid projects, how to handle dry toilet (aka 'how to be a shit manager').

We like being self-sufficient. In this project, but also as individuals. That is also what we look for in our guests and helpx-ers. We like people taking responsibility and initiative and being their own generator of action.

Cedric is French and Dorien is Dutch. We speak English. Cedric also speaks Spanish. And if you can teach us some words in your language, we will be very happy!
