Our lodge is situated half-way on the beautiful Nydia Track in a remote paradise with no road access. It is a peaceful place for hikers, mountain bikers and other guests to stay and rest for a few days. We provide a range of accommodation for our guests from a Yurt to our luxurious train carriage with ensuite room. We also provide meals.
The lodge is run by our family; Art and Helen and our four teenage children. We manage the lodge and look after the guests.
We have three dogs; Elvis, Flower and Luna and also have goats, chickens, sheep, cows and a pony.

We are looking for a couple or a single person who are comfortable to spend time by themselves. An outgoing personality and a reasonably good grasp of English is preferred. We would like the volunteers to help with food preparation, cleaning, changing beds, gardening, firewood, building, painting and lots of other tasks around the place. Help with marketing, website/facebook, etc is also much appreciated.
We work hard to get all the jobs done early in the day, so there is time to play & relax in the afternoons. When we have a lot of guests there will also be some help needed in the late afternoons/early evenings.

We provide accommodation for you in one of the chalets (might have to move around a bit depending on number of bookings). On very busy nights you might have to stay in the DOC lodge (which is a 30 minute walk from our lodge). We have unlimited wifi in the main lodge building.

Nydia Bay is situated in the Marlborough Sounds. You can get to us by watertaxi, mailboat, a 5 hour hike or you can come in on your mountain bike. We can also pick you up in Havelock with our boat. While you are here you can enjoy endless walks and hikes, swimming of the jetty, fishing, kayaking and lots more. While working and living here you will be part of our daily routines and dinners with the family (we have lactose intolerant family member, so cooking for this intolerance works fine for us).
Please get in-touch if you are up for this kind of work and lifestyle.
