BEING AN ANIMAL PERSON IS GOOD BUT I AM LOOKING MORE FOR OUTDOORSY, HARD WORKING MOTIVATED PEOPLE. PEOPLE WHO CAN HELP WITH THE ECO PROJECTS, VEGETABLE TENDING, FENCE REPAIRS, STONE WALLING. THE REAL OUT DOOR JOBS. HANDS DIRTY KIND!
we have never tackled a project like this before so all help and input greatly appreciated!
You would need to be able to stay for a minimum of one month.
You need to be able to take on DIY jobs, and be good in the garden and with veg planting and care.
You also have to be good with children of all ages from 6 to 17 that is a big must as my kids are a big part of this farm.
We are looking for people who can help with the Eco glamping structure,
rebuild stone walls, repair and replace fences and help with the veggie patches along with the animals and general farm tasks.
So you need to be a hard working. Pretty strong. Good with children, animal lover and Fun loving person.
We are English (from Yorkshire), in our 30's with three children, aged between 6 and 17. Our farm is situated in the Saone et Loire region of South Burgundy, where the landscape is not far removed from that of the Derbyshire Dales, but normally a little sunnier, quieter and French!
We are a camelid farm but also have the normal farm animals such as sheep a goat, Pigs, Donkeys, a mini shetland pony and chickens. We also have 3 dogs. Plenty to keep you interested!
If the above sounds like you, then please get in touch!
Ideally, you'll eat your meals with us, you'll spend time with us in the evenings, you'll get involved with the children and will work with us until the work is finished. Farm life entails good old fashioned hard work, and there's always an endless stream of jobs to do, including unpredictability ... so please be prepared that work here is not a typical 5 - 6 hour day... some days it's more... somedays it's less
You will have plenty of time to get away and go exploring, so if you don't want to work one day, then that's fine too. It's good fun, there's great banter and we eat and drink well at the end of the day.
So, if you're looking for a holiday in the sun, then this isn't the place for you. But, if you'd like to get back into nature and do some good hard work that makes you feel tired, but satisfied, then send us an email!
The farm is situated next to the long distance walking route, the GR7. Our visitors tend to spend time walking this route, as well as walking to the nearby lake at Le Rousset that has beaches and its own walking and cycling routes through the forest.
While our farm is quite isolated, with our nearest neighbor a 10-15 minute walk away, we are close enough to the center of the small town of La Guiche to be able to walk to the boulangerie, the bank? pharmacy and back to the farm in an hour or so.
We have bikes that you can borrow to get around the place. You're welcome to take an animal for a walk, be it a dog (we have a great dane!), an alpaca, a llama or a camel. Or, find your own little secluded spot in one of the fields, maybe behind one of the huge rocks that are scattered around the place, or under a tree to read a book and enjoy the fabulous scenery when you're not working.
We prefer to host longer term helpers rather than those looking for a 1, 2 or 3 week holiday. Preferably, we'd like to be contacted by anyone that wants to spent a month or more with us. This way we spent a relatively small amount of time becoming familiar with each other.
