Our farm is located in the Middle of North Wales, next to Snowdonia.
A low carbon vegan off grid stockfree Agroforestry Forest Garden Farm orchard of 7 acres in the highlands of Central North Wales at 1,000 ft altitude. Started 1997, in our apple and pear breeding program since the year 2000 we have developed 28 of our own varieties of apples and 7 of our own varieties of pears. Also our own variety of Hazel. We grow Robert Harts original Blackcurrants and Redcurrants that we received from him as cuttings. We operate a Forest garden nursery on a gift economy basis supplying the choicest and most abundantly fruiting and local varieties.

Harry Mather, Robert Hart, Dick Kitto and Kathleen Jannaway were among the founder members of this 90's pioneering reducing the cost of living transition to moneyless gift economy cooperative. We have Robert Harts redcurrant bushes and blackcurrants growing here and supply them from the nursery.†

Located next to the mountains of Snowdonia, situated in a beautiful little isolated wooded valley, & large ash and sycamore trees line the stream running through it.†A quarter of the farm is set aside for wildlife, a quarter for vegetable growing and willow plantation, a quarter for hazel nut orchard, and a quarter for the forest garden nursery and forest garden, and this quarter also has willow plantation. the whole of the farm is interplanted with forest garden. A swathe of trees line the stream that runs from top to bottom down the centre of the land, hilly one side, flat the other.†

Help is particularly appreciated from wwoof farm type volunteers to develop our projects, which are working with the bio fuel willow, and basket willow, general tree planting, vegetable growing, propagating plants in the forest garden tree nursery, propagating seeds, and all possible edible and useful perennials, fencing and maintenance, renovating the house.† There is a cosy caravan, a micro cottage, and† plenty of room to camp, we are completely off grid, we use low power wind and solar electricity, everything is composted, we use spring water. Itís a shared vegan kitchen, and land. The land is strictly Vegan, so in the list details I put 'provide vegetarian food' because as a previous volunteer pointed out vegan is also vegetarian! Low impact however very basic facilities at present, until we develop more with the help of members and volunteers, small dvd, no TV. Mobile networks: there is a reasonable signal on 3 and 4g is available on EE, t-mobile, virgin and orange. A tablet or phone is the ideal device for low impact internet for our low electricity use, other networks are available a short walk away up on the lane. There is also wifi at the pub in the village, a mile walk away.

If your main interest is reducing the cost of living, permaculture, one planet living, forest gardening, and the gift economy thats great, you will find it interesting and be absorbed, and you probably won't be if you aren't, we are 1 mile from the village which doesn't have a shop but has a post box and the pub has wifi, and we are 4 miles from a village with a shop, cafe and post office.†

Scenery here are rolling hills, and lots and lots of sheep farms and sheep. Snowdonia is about 15/ 20 miles away. It is possible to get to local towns everyday by bus from villages 4 miles and 5 miles away.
Once a week on a Friday there is one bus that comes by here to the local town and back.†
Its wise to get knowledgeable about buses, because missing one means the next one is in a weeks time, not minutes!
