I welcome helpers to my home on the ocean shore of the rural island Tofterøy; in the midst of wild, beautiful nature; on Norway`s west coast!
Bergen city is an hour`s bus ride north-east.
The best would be now, or after the summer.
Some nights we`ll be many, and you may have to share room with another helper.
Here is a great variety of activities to enjoy. It may be gardening, daily household of course, house- and boat maintenance, dogwalking, help with new constructions ... Your interests count.
I provide the instructions/teaching you need, and will be around for some co-work and for discussions/questions. Your suggestions will be appreciated! I like new ideas. You’ll normally work relatively independent, and structure your time yourself - with my help. Since freedom and responsibility are connected, trying to understand my/this place's needs, and sharing the goals, is important.
I`m happy if you work 15-20 hours a week in average during your stay.
A neighbour helps us develop permaculture gardening.
I often host a nice dog for an elderly neighbour.
Here are work clothes and boots for most sizes.
The short video below, is from the bay beneath my house and its close surroundings. Shows much of what we can see from my house and garden - places I`ll be happy to explore with you, with my motor boat. We can do pikniks, swimming (I like ice bathing too), hiking on islands ...
You`ll have free access to my boat club`s kayaks etc. (12 km away.)
Lend my row boat and fishing equipment.
Lend my bicycles.
You share kitchen with the other helper(s) and a long-term tenant in rooms next to yours. My guests normally keep a separate household and prepare their own food. (You buy; I pay.)
Here is good wifi.
More on me:
I have adult children and am grandfather.
Retired from my job as government adviser on education.
Member of the Humanist Association.
Ceremony Officiant; wedding couples sometimes.
Values insisted upon:
Mutual respect, consideration for people and environment - being kind, trustworthy and responsible!
Values not insisted upon:
Music like for example Dimmu Borgir (Norwegian heavy metal) and Leonard Cohen.
Sharing peace and fellowship with me in the nature and the garden jakousi.
There I enjoy stories, thoughts and experiences, language, views on politics, metaphysics, astrophysics, education, psychology, culture, ... Beliefs and doubts. It is extra lovely when we find ourselves trusting and can let down some barriers, so we can share important stuff too - what is on our hearts. - Connecting, and supporting eachother`s personal growth and freedom! (I am doubtful about most between heaven and earth - and anywhere else - and I love learning more.)
Welcome to a place for stress-free activity, learning, teaching and great nature experiences, in good company!
1: The house seen from the garden tub. Guest kitchen upstairs left. To the left: part of the vegetable beds.
2: My 24-foot boat on one of the many islands around here. I like to swim all year round. Company is appreciated! (Textile optional.)
3: The ocean and a part of the garden, seen from the ground floor.
Tree house under construction.
Beneath it: Fire heated garden tub. - Our primary "connecting place", where we enjoy many comfortable, relaxing moments, sharing stories, laughs, knowledge, hopes, dreams ... - for personal growth and for our strengthening as a team. I am actually quite introverted and like to be much alone, but there I overcome it and can enjoy sharing and connecting with my guests.
4 and 5: The two guest rooms. Collapsable sofa (additional bed) added later.
6: My guests are appreciated company in and around my boat! (Photo of me and my youngest daughter (who lives in Bergen).)
