Embraced by the age-old trees and lush ponds, Mewburn Park is one of the oldest heritage homesteads in Victoria. It was built in 1854.

We are: Julia and Adam with a 2 year old toddler boy and another one on the way. We are planning to make Mewburn Park again an event/function centre and one day also a B&B. We recently moved back from Europe (Julia is German) and still settling up. Therefore we need some support, as well as some cultural exchange with travellers from all over the world (as we love to travel).

We live in the big comfortable homestead on a farm, where you'll have privacy and space, but you are welcome to join us in the living room whenever you like. You’ll stay in a secluded bedroom in the "old wing" which has 2 rooms, one with single bed, the other with a double bed and no door in between (so ideal for 2 people who know each other or a couple or a single person). You will have your own big bathroom with shower and toilet.

You'll be asked to work 4-6 hours a day in exchange for main meals and accommodation. You will spend each day helping us with jobs need doing: mainly some gardening, lawn mowing (the lawn mower is fun to drive), small renovations like painting, assisting with landscaping, cleaning up the shed - that sort of stuff.

We live 3km out of Maffra on the farm - 180km east of Melbourne. You can catch a train and bus to Maffra or a train to Sale station (15 min from us), where we'll pick you up. For information, look up V/Line Trains and look for the Bairnsdale Line.

We have bikes, access to the serpentine creek for a swim, a big blow up pool and good mobile reception is available as is limited wi-fi. In town is a backpackers, where you can meet other backpackers, also they have live music and a cool bar.

We would be happy to show you around the area and try to make your stay as interesting and informative as possible. Looking forward to meeting you all!!

Julia & Adam

Ps: we recommend your own personal insurance.
