Welcome to Te Paranui Permaculture Homestead. We value our principles : AHIMSA - AKO - AMICA.
Ahimsa is a sanskrit expression for non-harming and non- violence, Ako is Maori for Sharing/Learning and Amica is latin for Friend. We apply theses principles in the way we think, speak and treat people, plants, animals, water and the land. This space is multi-functional; we run a B'nB, a shared house for medium to long-term residents, a spiritual healing clinic using Essential Oils and an animal sanctuary for dogs, chickens, pigs, horses, donkeys and alpacas. Our EARTHBOUND kitchen can cater pure plant whole food to the surrounding towns and host school groups and evening workshops on pure plant based nutritions, diets and cooking. The kitchen is open for the volunteers on the weekdays to discover and enjoy the making of yummy nutritious delicious pure plant whole food.
We have space for one long-term volunteer (or one couple) and 3-4 short term volunteers at a time. If you're a short-term volunteer we can accommodate you for one week, from a Sunday evening to a Friday afternoon. We provide 3 delicious healthy pure plant whole food dishes per day, 2 of which are prepared or supervised by experienced community members, and a good nights sleep in the separate sleep-out. If you are a long-term volunteer you’ll have a single bedroom to yourself and can stay on the weekends in exchange for caring for the animals and looking after the garden (2 hours a day Saturday-Sunday, please cater for your own food on these days - pure plant only).
The homestead is nestled in midst the wildlife of the beautiful Para Wetlands which you can paddle out to on our small row boat, hammocks for lazing about, animals to connect with, a spacious 1959 Bedford bus to chill out and a trampoline! We are situated 10mins between Blenheim and Picton in either directions, where there are plenty of adventure companies, hikes, shops and cafe’s in close by areas. Begin your stay on Monday mornings with a complimentary all-level yoga class with Maia in the Yurt, just 10 minutes by car from the homestead in the native bush (if you have a vehicle).
Please be aware that we provide a meat, dairy, alcohol, smoking and drug FREE environment on the whole property. If this all sits well with you, then please come and join us! For ease, tell us your expected dates of arrival (Sunday) and departure (Friday). If we have space and you wish to join us for another week we are happy to have you back on Sunday for another exciting working-week with us.
Hei te wa titoki!
Danny & Nina
