Come and work in the South West of France on a Chateau and grounds dating back to the 1700's. We are looking for volunteers to come and work on our property before the beginning of the summer holiday season to carry out refurbishment work.

We are looking for a total of 6 people for a period of 2 weeks commencing on the 20th of May 2017.

No major skills are required. Just elbow grease and good will. Tasks involve mostly helping my father and myself with the building work. We will be doing stone work, wood work, roofing, window fitting, ground work, landscaping and so on. So be ready to get your hands very dirty.

We are asking for 5 hours of work per day and in exchange we will share our vast building knowledge with you and we will provide accommodation in your own room in a cottage on the grounds of the Chateau with free access to Wi-fi, TV, BBQ and the swimming pool.

We will also provide food for 3 meals a day + snacks and soft drinks. ( you cook for yourselves) The cottages have equipped kitchens, living areas, cable, patio, garden furniture and so on.

To get to us we can come and collect you for free at the closest airports (La Rochelle or Bordeaux) or Train stations (Rochefort or Saintes)

We do recommend having a vehicle as it is a fairly remote area but there are buses to get you around and we can drop you off somewhere on your free time if we are going that way.

There are 2 bars, a restaurant, general groceries, bakers, post office 10 minutes walk from the property.

My parents bought this property in 1994 as our family home and we have completely rebuilt the whole place. Literally every stone, every tile... every aspect from the mains drains to the finishing details. There is not a single part of the property that we have not carried out work on. When they bought it it was a ruin which had been for sale for 50 years.

We are fun people, we have travelled the globe, we have had several businesses, we have a tale or two to tell. We like art and music. See you soon.
