We are now looking for a Long term volunteer / house friend for potential long term stays of 2 months or more over winter and beyond..

Our project has slowed down immensely because of a change in our plans. Markos is now studying in Athens to become a chef and will be on the farm on weekends, so we are now growing much less and simply enough to aid our supply of winter veggies.

I (Emma) am staying on the farm and teaching English 3 nights per week on the island and will go to Athens for the odd weekend to be with Markos.

So for now we are looking for a long term living partner and future friend to come and live with us at the farm on the island for any period longer than 2 months starting immediately or as soon as possible.

We only have a small amount of work to do in the garden, which can be between 5 and 8 hours a week of gardening.

so for your loving help in the garden we can offer a large double room in exchange for 5 - 8 hours of work a week - which we are very flexible about...

Food and bills are not included and would be shared between the 2 of us. Food is very cheap if you are vegetarian and the bills depend on how cold it gets this winter, but they shouldn't be more than about 80eu per month.

If you are a location independent earner or a long term traveler with savings who is looking for a quiet but beautiful place to spend your winter - this might suit you as a place to recharge, be creative, relax, go on long walks or whatever you may need it for.. get in touch and we can talk over any questions you may have about the island or staying here.

I would like to talk on skype with anyone who is seriously interested in joining me for a long term stay and see how we could work together.

I'm really looking for someone to join our household rather than to come and work for us. someone to share this magical place with me and share ideas, creativity and a moment of time in life.

looking forward to hearing from you!!

Emma and Markos

Who are we?

We are Markos and Emma - two city bred humans at the very beginning stages of transforming our lives through a more sane and self sustainable way of living on a Greek Island.

We celebrate creativity and humour, which are important parts of both our lives.
Emma is an artist and dancer and Markos is a writer and cook.

We are both overly enthusiastic about cooking and eating and we love long meandering walks around the island whenever we get the chance.
We spend our evenings playing board games, reading, watching movies, drawing, writing, meditating and talking and if you dance or sing or play an instrument or act we encourage and invite you to create and play with us!

Our vision

We wish to live in connection with the materials that bring us life and sustaining ourselves through independence and self generation of food, energy and water. We want to develop ourselves as creators and regenerators tuned in with the rhythms and needs of the soil under our feet and the multitude of flora and fauna surrounding us. In the future, we wish to share this way of life with others, creating a community self pollinating with ideas, play, open heartedness and inspiration. In our mind's eye we see our children amongst others, growing their own experiments and dancing with us and our community of friends.

Where we live

We live in a house overlooking a family planted orchard of olive and pistachio trees, next to a monastery in a semi townish, semi rural part of Aegina island, on the tip of Aegina town itself.
We enjoy the quiet of a sleepy village in winter and the vibrancy of town living in summer - the island offers mountain walks, clear calm blue sea, stunning view points, olive grove reflections and grannies dressed in black on tractors and Harley Davidsons just as often as a chance to catch locals randomly playing the baglama in cafes. There are a few small around the clock bars, quaint taverns, the odd musical gathering or open air cinema under the stars - nothing is too far away by vehicle or by bicycle and everything in town including the closest beach is less than 10 minutes walk.

The island is a very special place - being one of the closest islands to Athens in the Saronic gulf (1hr +/- by ferry), it has constant exchange of people, cultural traits as well as a growing community of expats of various trades - writers, musicians, nomads, sailors etc. in winter it is cozy and peaceful, in summer it is buzzy and full of life and activity.

What to expect

For the sake of clarity - we are absolute beginners, and every step we take is a trial as much as it is another brick in our progress. We gain experience as we work, research and connect with others. Be prepared for fluctuating between different roles we play every other day, learning, teaching and experimenting, almost everything we do here is new to us so if your up for a real experimental adventure and a chance to help us get closer to our dream with positivity, flexibility, patience and belief - then you have come to the right project.

You will also have the space to work on your own projects / ideas if you like ;)
