Thanks for checking us out! We are looking for helpers (a couple?) to give us a hand.

We are an Irish/American couple in our mid-60s living our dream on an acre of land in a rural Algarvian cottage overlooking the town of Loule, Algarve, Portugal.

We are in need of of manual help during Autumn-Winter 2017-Sept-Oct-Nov (maybe-Dec) 2017. One or two helpers (ideal for a couple) are welcome to stay for 1 week and, if it feels right for all of us, for longer. Most of the time we'll work together of projects and sometimes not depending on the day, work load etc. We have 1,800 english language books and lots of music from origional American blues 'n jazz, Irish traditional, Portuguese Fado, Classical. We LOVE cooking and have a pop-up restuarant once a month in our home; serving authentic Mexican, Soul Food from the South and American Cowboy food. Weekly Pat bakes IIrish Soda bread and such things.

Prepare gardens: digging, weeding (vegetable, flower & garlic plants) dig post holes & put up a fence, prune/harvest Olive & Almond, Figs, Carob trees, plant other trees, repair leaking roof, build a bocce court, help smoke chillies and garlic/ sea-salt.

Just general physical labour on the land. (Our bodies are too sore to do the work we need to do). And some help clean up a storage shed to create a logistics and fullfillment area for our Organic Smoked Garlic, Chili business and Supper-Club.
Projects on the land, depending on the season, include: care and pruning of trees, harvesting almonds, figs and olives, preserving, landscaping, weeding, planting, laying paths, irrigation system maintenance, maintenance of vegetable and flower gardens, chopping/sawing firewood and clearing land.
pruning, transplanting, mulching, tree planting organising compost piles and occasional bonfires. Projects on buildings include: painting, carpentry, repairs, house cleaning organizing etc.

We are well located (15 mins from beaches - bus service from Loule, 25 minutes from Faro airport) and close to trains and buses for trips further afield.
Although we are in the country we are only 1.6km from the town center.

We have a very friendly dog who loves to go on walks in the surrounding country side. We offer guests the use of our bicycles to explore locally. We also provide the odd lift into Loule and help with planning days off and suggestions for places to visit.

We offer a privately located self-contained caravan with sweeping views of Loule below and 180 degrees view of the sea. It's a wee bit away from our cottage so you have your own space..

We three offer 3-meals a day for 5-hours a day work for 5-days per week 09h00-12h00 & 14h00-16h00 (Monday-Friday). Weekends you're off to go explore the area and cover your own own meals.

We provide local foods for your own breakfast & supper, most lunches we eat together. There is use of our 2-mountain bikes. We have a dog and 2 cats. WiFi is an option in the caravan.

We ask that you have your own health insurance and give us a contact number of your next of kin in case of any emergencies.

Helpers must have a deep an unabiding GSOH as we do!
