No one ever has lived on this piece of land before we've purchased it and we developing the land from scratch, so you could call us pioneers ;)
The property is 20acres and half of it is covered with beautiful native bush with a huge variety of native trees like Totara, Kaekatea, Matai, Rimu to name a few. The other half is mostly pines (weeds!) we are taking out at the moment and replacing them with natives (half way there). We also going to establish an orchard (fruits, nuts etc) and veggie gardens (all organic!) and have to build many structures, mostly earth buildings.
There is a stream and a decent size waterfall on our land also. The water we using comes from our clean spring. We are totally off the grid, producing our own power. We`ve got showers and composting toilets in place.
So far it`s 5 of us on the land. My wife Ragna, our son Samson, our other son Maximilian, Hokee the cat and me, Alex :)
There are so many projects going on right now and we could need anybody with a good skill set or just helping hands... A couple would be great too.
Bring your own accommodation (van/campervan/tent) as we still have to build solid accommodation.
Next on the list is a hexagonal structure we call our communal space/kitchen...
Feel welcome to be part of this awesome journey!
By the way, we are vegetarians :)
Hope this gave you an insight of what`s going on at our place right now.
Looking forward to host you,
Ragna, Alex, the kids and Hokeč
Update: I have been working on our resource management system, making a lot of compost, building worm farms and making teas for the gardens. There is heaps to learn for people who wanna know about growing organic food with a biodynamic and permaculture approach.
We also gotta start building our communal space (hexagonal earth building) and other natural buildings like accommodation to host more helpers. So if you wanna help with that, great ;)
I will also need helpers with planting our organic orchard/food forest...
Unfortunately we had two bad experiences over a year ago... HelpX is a help/energy exchange program. I won't tolerate people who just come for the take!
We had two couples in a row who thought eating and resting all day would be enough not to mention that they stayed in the most beautiful spot imaginable as... If you wanna camp up and do nothing, fine. We call it camping and it's $20 per night per person. You can also tap into an excellent base of knowledge plus we feed people with the best and healthiest foods available and would like your help in return and we think this is fair for both side's.
If this sounds like you flick me a txt or email to get more details on this.
