Welcome to Wallaby country!
We live on the side of a hill overlooking the countryside in all directions. we can see the sea in one direction and the alps in the other.
Surrounded by dairy farms, we are trying to forge a wildlife refuge in the middle of an intensified farming area.
We have three paddocks, one of which is a wetland.
The land has been left to go wild over the years and we are trying to restore the wetland by removing the old trees and scrub. We have come a long way but our main need is for helpers who would be happy to pick up pine cones and bag them, stack firewood, tidy up the outside. Clear away sticks onto a fire pile. That kind of thing.

A family with one remaining son at home, a foxy dog, three cats, pigs, highland steer, sheep and many poultry including ducks, chickens and doves, all free range.
Your room has two single beds, and the home has two bathrooms. Wi-fi. The tv is not connected to the outside world, but can play dvds etc.of which we have a large selection.
You would be welcome to join us as a family. we love to meet people from wherever and spend time trying out our very poor efforts at speaking your language. It makes for a few laughs.
All we would ask is for you to work hard, then feel free to relax.
We live about 20 mins drive from the Waitaki river which leads into the Waitaki lakes system, known as the best fishing locally for trout and salmon. We are about 15 mins drive to the seaside and excellent fishing. Also this is a hunting area for wallaby and pigs, rabbits and hares.
Your host is a builder and keen hunter and fisherman, always happy to teach you to shoot or fish and we have gear you can borrow. Fishing requires a permit which can be bought easily.
