At last we are moving towards spring although the mornings can be cold at first. Usually work starts when the sun is well up. We can host people at this time and would be happy if you were able to give us more than the usual week or so.
Family oriented lifestyle block close to scenic sites, shops & beaches. We are retired Salvation Army Officers and have four generations living on the property and accommodation is in the main house with us. We are pretty laid back but welcome a good work ethic and teachable spirit, Use of washing machine and wifi.
We believe we have a unique lifestyle experience in that we raise Monarch Butterflies from Spring until Autumn. We have growing vege gardens and orchards that we are establishing by growing with woodchip/mulch for healthy growing. We have sheep and chickens and two growing calves.
We are a nonsmoking/drug free property.
It would be necessary/ helpful to have own transport or car license as we are 4 kms from nearest town Richmond. Mostly we would expect work in the morning at least 3-4 hrs weather permitting and you are free to relax, sightsee etc after that. No real work Sunday. We are flexible and sometimes take advantage of the cooler evenings for a bit of work
The butterfly season is in recess and butterflies are hibernating on the property. We are hand feeding some butterflies to hopefully kick start the new season. An interesting experience in itself. Maintenance work on the shade houses goes on all the time along with continuing gardening and ground work. We have added extra chooks so have two sets real free range in a paddock which can make life interesting. We are open for helpx folk to plan to come join us any time for a great family lifestyle experience.
