Organic smallholding in a beautiful part of North East Scotland. We grow vegetables and fruit and run a friendly flock of Gotland x Shetland sheep. We offer simple self-catering accommodation in a mixture of huts and caravans. Our land consists of 8ha of arable land/pasture, 2ha garden area and buildings and 4ha of woodland.

Together with other residents on site, we form a loosely connected community of craftspeople and contemplatives, currently ten people, housed in a combination of chalets, caravans and the original farmhouse. Between us we run separate enterprises growing food, tending animals and running craft studios (joinery and fine wood work, film making, basket weaving, wool and other land and nature based crafts), offering nature connection skills (animal tracking, wild foraging, bushcraft and birdsong) and teaching and promoting the principles and practice of circular economies and sustainable design.

We are looking for skilled help (ideally 2 people) with the restoration of buildings and the construction of round-log pole barns and structural frames using natural timbers. Applicants need to have joinery skills and be proficient in the use of hand tools.

We also need help on the land with weeding, pruning and harvesting, possibly also with occasional sheep handling.

Accommodation will be in self-contained hut (single or couple) or caravan (shared with other volunteers) with WC/shower and kitchen facilities shared with other volunteers. WIFI and mobile reception available but often poor on site.

Local paces of interest include the beautiful beaches of the Moray coast, the Cairngorm mountains, beautiful rivers, historic towns and castles and the Eco-village which forms part of the internationally renowned Findhorn Foundation.

We are 44km east of Inverness and our nearest town is Forres which is 4km away.
