This is a family owned property in a rural area on the foot of the Balkan Mountain in Northern Bulgaria. We live in the near capital town of Sofia (90 km, 1 hr drive) and visit our village home during weekends and holidays. With the help of the local elders, mostly my neighbors, I try to maintain a small organic farm growing vegetables for own consumption and also keep on repairing the two old houses that I bought along with the land (the yard is 2000 sq. meters). I'm looking for volunteers who would like to stay in this lovely place and get a touch or the authentic and unique rural life in Bulgaria. Help is mainly needed for keeping the lawn in shape, watering the garden and helping with some minor construction works. Participants will be also able to gain some valuable know-how of the old ways gardening was (and still is) done in Bulgaria. People in Bulgarian rural areas are still growing their own food and are almost self-sufficient and by being there I'm trying to collect their knowledge of how this is done, because this is something that fades away in time as those elderly people usually don't have any ancestors to pass it on- most of the young people in Bulgaria prefer urban living.

The Nature around is quite remarkable and people are friendly and hospitable. The nearby town of Etorpole is 6 km away, the village also has two shops where food and drinks are available. I offer food and accommodation and also transfer from/to Sofia for those who need it. The houses have renewed rooms, two bathrooms, a kitchenette and a big veranda. If up to three people visit, I am able to offer private room for everyone.
