This is a respite, retreat and community activity centre just outside the lovely town of Balingup, in the South West of Australia. We have with a focus on Mindfulness teaching, with classes every week, which HelpX's are welcome to attend if they want.

We are approximately 3 hours south west of Perth, WA, right on the Bibbulmun track. The Centre is surrounded by 17 acres of bushland. We have a herb garden and small orchard. Regular community activities take place each week including traditional mindfulness teachings. We have a hall that is used for teaching, yoga, and music (it has great acoustics).

We are seeking short term and long term residential helpers. NOTE, we do not do visa stays.

'Helpers' are asked to do 2.5 hours help a day, Monday to Thursday, in exchange for accommodation. We do not provide meals or food, but the town is a short distance away. You will be provided with your own private room (bring your own bedding however), and you will use the communal kitchen, living room, showers and toilets. We have a variety of guests passing through, and it is a friendly, communal, and respectful atmosphere.

Duties of a Helper may include: cleaning, general maintenance, gardening, and meeting and greeting new guests. There is plenty of time for a Helper to pursue their own interests, such as art, study, meditation, music or writing.

Every 'helper' begins on a trial basis (a trial of at least a week before further commitment). We require a Helper to stay at least one month. After that, as we become familiar with each other, longer stays can be arranged. The longer a helper stays the more they are relied upon.

We also have a need for a Helper specifically devoted to landcare work, as we are undertaking a big project of bush reclamation, revegetation and weed control. If you are interested in being a Landcare Helper, please get in touch for further info.

Origins Centre is run by a team of volunteers, and supported by a neighbouring teaching house, Coorain, which takes a universalist approach to traditional dharma teachings.

If you are interested in an ethos and program, please contact us!

This is a drug and alcohol free venue. We are a registered charitable not-for-profit NGO.
Please see our post on GoVolunteer for more information, see our second website link above.
